You’ll let Jay know what? I asked a question.

His mechanics as a pitcher is not natural. It seems forced
Explain
I bet you can’t

So far in his career he has been trying to be a dual player. I believe and hope he knows now that he’s future is on the mound. If he puts his time and effort into improving that skill set he will make it to the next level.

I do t think Guidry is playing the position that is going to get him to the next level
You think it’s easier to make it to the Big League as a SS or 2B vs a pitcher?
You watch baseball baw?

Man these baseball fans are are touchy when it comes to criticism of their guys

No it doesn’t
yes it does.
and there are generations of MLB players that all say the same thing.
you can throw 99. but if all you do is throw 99 over and over again, big leaguers will get your timing and light you up.
but if you can change speeds an lf eye levels, you don’t have to throw hard to be effective.
someone earlier mentioned Maddux.
might have hit 91 on his best day. maybe.
but nobody could hit him.
Johann Santana at his prime. best pitch was a change up.
Same with Trevor Hoffman.
Tom Glavine is another one.
if your Deuce is good enough, you don’t need a Nolan Ryan fastball.

Guidry doesn’t even look like he is shaving yet. He is not anywhere near his ceiling. His potential is pretty high and is an A+ competitor.

The Red Sox feel like he’s good enough. They’re extremely high on him.

Greg Maddox had more than 2 pitches.

Trolling right? This cannot be an honest take.

I don’t know. That’s why I asked.
But you know he’s playing the wrong position?

Guidry is not gonna light up a radar gun with fastball but he has a hammer pitch that plays well in a relief role.
He hasn't hit well enough to beat out other infielders

One season with Skenes and fans think slinging 100 mph is commonplace.

You are getting some grief, but you are right. From what I've read he has not advanced as a hitter. As a pitcher he is a four year college player with no professional future, but he would not even get on the field as a middle infielder who cannot hit.
He is contributing a lot as high leverage guy who can come in and throw strikes, and maybe go once through the order.

Had 30 fall ball at bats. Can’t hit well enough. We’ve all seen way more dynamic pitchers come through here who never sniffed the bigs. No harm in being a good college pitcher as his ceiling…
