GD is good, VL is VL. At least we know them well, I hated it when Ron Franklin left the Saturday night main game on ESPN, but correct me if I'm wrong, I think it was a health issue.

Franklin got demoted and then fired. He didn't much care for Jeannine Edwards' and Miss Piggy's menstual opinions of sports. He opened his mouth and got himself in trouble. Best tv announcer in my day, IMO.

Yeah Danielson does so much to make Verne seem decent.
I hate it when people lump Danielson in with Verne and say they both suck. Danielson is the best analyst on TV.

The man knows SEC football, but his continuous praise for certain teams, coaches, and star players gets really, really old. Even when it has been Les Miles and LSU (06,07,11), he just goes overboard with it. Just call the damn game.
What really got me was the all-out hype machine during the 2011, 2012, and 2013 SEC Championship Games. Verne and GD used the game as an infomercial to promote the SEC getting a team (or teams in 2011) selected for the BCSNC game. Again, just do your job and call the damn game. I don't need to hear about the merits of the SEC over the last decade after every timeout and commercial break.
If he drop all the stchick, I would like him a lot more.

Danielson is the best color analyst there is. Paid him with Brad Nessler instead of Verne = WIN.

And now for my CSB...
A few years ago I was waiting for my flight back to BR after a business trip and I sit down and notice Verne and Gary are right across from me (flying in for a game). Verne is absolutely silent, seems to be saving his energy for game day.
But Gary is going over about 50 pages of notes, talking about how "So much of the talent at LSU is home-grown, LA is just a special place for football." He then went on to just compliment the program to Verne for the next 15min. He was speaking quietly enough that, if I wasn't right next to him, I wouldn't have been able to hear him.
Dude likes him some Louisiana and LSU.
