This season, Laird is slumping badly but he stays in the second spot where he bunts 50% of the time. Today, Mainieri makes a lineup change, but instead of moving the best hitters up one spot in the lineup, he puts the new player in the lineup in the 2 hole. History has shown that Mainieri does not feel it important to put a good "hitter" in that spot in the lineup.
