Seems pretty informative & makes sense to me. Defense can absolutely effect a pitcher’s performance so im not sure why anyone with at least a little intelligence would have a issue with it.

So, you can give up a ton of hits and still be elite

His BABIP was way too far out of the ordinary for him to not improve even if he changed nothing.

He’s give up his fair share of barrels, but also has a bunch of balls chopped through the infield.

Oh great another dumb acronim some dorks came up with to make modern baseball even more confusing. How about we just watch the game and enjoy letting the players play instead of coming up with some dumb useless stat for everything! Whats next? Stats for how great each player spits out there sunflower seeds! Give me a break!

Thats a lot of words to say "I'm too dumb to understand this."

You do realize stats are not hitting running or catching right? At every level.

It’s simply just measures to effectively rule out biases towards judging gameplay. You have fans calling for Eyanson to be removed from the starting rotation which is objectively dumb. Without that it’s mayham with opinions that are objectively dumb.

Glad to hear there is an independent calculation of this factor.

I have often tried to keep track of "bad luck" influence on ERA - but to no avail - my memory was never that great and now is practically non existent.

Will this stat be readily available?? as in accepted by the 'establishment?'

For the kids on here, Sabermetrics (invented in the 70’s) roots go back to the 1800’s and specifically that metric almost 30 years now. This is probably before you were in nutville but it doesn’t mean it isn’t a shitty metric like WAR.

Not everything that you think is from this century yet you want to talk shite about someone that actually might know a little bit. You should listen to the people that have gray hair on their head or “old timers” and oh by the way, frick you.

Honestly this is as well rounded of an LSU team on offense and defense as Jay has had if you just look at the numbers.

Need a couple of guys to emerge out of the bullpen, especially if Guidry does not return, but that usually has happened in past seasons with someone coming on late.

The biggest thing I don't like is the situational offense. Bunting will be needed at some point and I haven't had reason to feel overly confident. While we are scoring and producing runs at a high rate so far, it's still absurd that we can be 3rd in the nation in OBP and yet 215th in the country in stolen bases

I'd like to see Jay and the team threaten more in that area and be competent with leads, reading picks, jumps, hit and runs, bunts, etc. There are plenty of capable legs on the team to not be applying pressure on the basepath.

Imagine how much harder our offense could be to defend if we took that high OBP and used it to constantly apply more pressure to pitchers from the stretch. Currently, opposing pitchers really don't have to worry about our base runners much and can focus on batters with less stress.

They’ve came a long way from only having 1.33 more hits per game than Mizzou that weekend

Ah, numbers are almost everything, aren't they

But it's early still and LSU has played by far the worst schedule in the SEC to date. 135th on Warren Nolan. Texas is the second worst but still 47 spots better (88th) than LSU's

Let's see what the FIP and all of these other numbers are in about 30 days

It seems good

But some of these posters don’t need a metric to tell them anything

Fangraphs must be using a different constant than d1. Because the numbers dont match. And colton book is #1 in FIP on there. And eyanson is the only lsu player in the top 20.

I don’t have D1 numbers, but it might have something to do with minimum innings pitched. The Fangraph link is set to 20 minimum innings pitched.

No lol. Tennessee’s schedule has been just as bad if not worse than LSU’s only playing bama. At least LSU has played K-State and DBU two top 25 teams out of conference

Now, now. No reason to get acronymonious.
Does any tRanter need a sabermetric to decide Paul Skenes is an elite pitcher?

most baseball advanced stats are pretty intuitive

like “damn he sure hits a lot of hard line drives right at guys, how unlucky can you be?”

And you get BABPIP

which once you know what it is becomes super interesting.
