I remember seeing Jerry Stovall in a game at Tiger Stadium so it had to be 1962 when I was 5 years old. I don't recall the opponent. The first game that I can tell you I was at and who we played was the 1966 Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

1969. LSU lost to Ole Miss 24-22. Ran it out of bounds with two seconds left but they let it keep ticking. Went 9-1 that year and no bowl game. I was hooked on LSU after that. That was the first LSU game I ever saw on TV. I was 10 years old.

The 1974 Orange Bowl against Penn State as a wee lad. Mike Miley vs John Cappelletti . By 1975 I was ALL IN and listening to away games on the radio with a notepad and going to every home game and living and dying on every play.

1977. First time in Tiger Stadium. (I was 9 years old).

LSU lost to Indiana to begin the season but trampled Rice University in the second game , 77-0.

Finished 8-4 with a loss to Stanford in the El Paso Sun Bowl.

That's easy for me: 1958
I was only 8 but my dad and older brothers were going nuts. I don't remember that much to be honest, just them listening to the games on the radio: JC Politz. They occasionally got tickets as well.
I remember more about the '59 season and my oldest brother and dad were at the Ole Miss game. We had some Chinese Bandit coolie hats etc.
It became a religion.

Sad day with the passing of Billy Cannon, but, proud to say I saw him play. My first experience with LSU football was the Black Stallion. Thats right, I'm an old fart.

1957. Yep, I clearly remember all 3 Championships and that robbing we took in Jackson in 1969. That should have been a championship.
Had there been a CFP, we would have been part of many of those. East and west coast bias killed the southern teams outside of Bama.

Moved to BTR in 1982. I think that was the year of the Orange throwing game against FSU. There was also a heavy fog game around then... for some reason I am thinking Tulane.

quote:

t was a "Mid 60's" game against Alabama in Tiger Stadium. Our seats were in the lower SEZ Upper Deck right behind the goal posts.

My uncle from Tuscaloosa was a big Alabama supporter and friend of Bear Bryant. He got us tickets every other year to the game in TS. We never beat Bama, so I grew up hating them and all their BS.

Started attending regularly in the early 70's while in high school. (From Mandeville, but graduated from Choctawhatchee HS in Fort Walton Beach FL)

LSU student on and off PT/FT 74-82. GBFTL in 74. Madison Scouts D & BC in 75, then more GBFTL 76-82.

I've seen roughly 90% of the night games in Tiger Stadium since the early 70's. (Don't go to sacrilegious day games)

After being down on that field for so many years, it's not that exciting being up in the seats. Even for very big games it's been very anti-climatic. That's why I state "Been There, Done That" often.

Been doing it so long now, that it's not that thrilling/exciting any longer and very easy to stay away. (Particularly in the last 5 years or so with the Corporatization, Sanitation, PIMization and Decline in the Tiger Stadium atmosphere. Thanks LSUAD )

Very nice summary. My story is a little further back. Do you remember he ‘66 Cotton Bowl? That was outstanding.

My earliest LSU football memory is being facinated by the Chinese Bandits when I heard a game on the radio, don't remember what year.

1985 I think was when I started paying attention, 86 my dad took me to a couple of games and I was hooked. I need to see if he remembers the first game I went to, I'm not sure. I still have the programs somewhere. Used to confuse the hell out of me that players had the same number sometimes, I always tried to count them all and figure that out.

Born in 79. My parents first date night after I was born was the USC game in they still talk about that. For me the first one I truly remember was LSU Vs Washington 1983 I was 4 years old. What a day it was we tailgated by the creamy and I just remember asking my mom and dad before the game why my uncle was sleeping in the chair and didn’t come to the game.
There is nothing better than taking in a LSU football game. I have never once taken for granted have the privilege being
able to walk into Death Valley.

1976 - Charles Alexander was our great RB at the time. About half the season I can recall. First full season '77. Remember listening to the Rice game with family when Carlos Carson broke receiving records and had like six TDs. First game I went to I remember was '78 vs UGA in a tough loss 17-24. First game I attended but did not remember was 1973 vs Moo U.
