Clemson is good but people are making them out to be world beaters...

That's all I was trying to show. Some of these trolls dont understand Facts vs Opinions

So? We lost to a terrible USC team, an average aTm team, and a mid Florida team.

If we have a Top 40 Defense, it’ll be a fun season

LSU's 4 losses last year:
7 points to unranked USC
15 points to unranked Texas A&M
29 points to Alabama
11 points to unranked Florida
And as I said in a follow up post, LSU took 18 transfer portal players to Clemson's 3. The LSU that took the field in 2024 is not remotely the same team that'll take it in 2025.
LSU is gonna roll out (most likely)
Haulcy in place of Gilbert
Cooley in place of Sage
Delane in place of Alexander
Perkins in place of Major
Gooden in place of Paez
Payton in place of Swinson
Pyburn in place of Jones
Weeks in place of Penn
A 2nd year McKinley
A 2nd year Breaux
2 2nd year Reliford
Stamps is back
Just defensively, you're a completely different team than last year and most of those swaps resulted in upgrades for us.

So.Cal had a winning record 7-6

If you dig even deeper you keep bumping into things that make you wonder how they are so hyped this year.

Did you not go to any games in the 90s vs UF

I know. I was just providing a comparison. It comes down to what you think is better in game 1, a team that has played together for over a year or a brand new team in their first game playing together. Both have their positives. Then you can factor in home field advantage, etc.
Are you counting all of those “2nd year” players as a positive for us, but counting Clemson’s returning players as a negative for them?

LSU also added 18 players via the transfer portal. Clemson added 3. LSU is a VASTLY different team than they were a year ago.

No, I’m just pointing out that the team LSU fielded last year, that wasn’t great, is not at all the same team they’ll field this year.

True. But if given the choice of rolling with a team that went 9-4 last year or adding a bunch of proven veterans to that squad, I’m taking the talent. Could it bust? Sure. Or it could be 2023 FSU.

Average Recruiting Class Rankings of LSU losses vs Clemson Losses last year
LSU
Texas A&M - usually 5th to 10th ranked class
Florida - usually 10th ranked class
Alabama - usual 1st or 2nd ranked class
USC - usual 10th ranked class
Clemson
Georgia - usually 1st or 2nd ranked class
Texas - usually 5th ranked class
Scar - usual 20th ranked class
Louisville - usual 50th ranked class
SMU, outgained by 150 yards - 40th-50th ranked class
Make with that what you will.
I for one hand would take way much more weight into a loss by looking at their past 4 recruiting classes than what their AP ranking is in a particular week.
Aka, losing to Indiana when ranked 5th is not a true Top 5 loss because their recruiting is 45th to 50th usual classes. It's much worse than a Top 5 loss. I'd have more concern losing to #5 Indiana than losing to 7-5 unranked Florida.

To be fair, we weren't that good last year. LSU was terrible in the red zone. I mean awful.
WR are loaded. DL is loaded. DB should be very improved. Apparently Haulcy is a playmaker in camp.
If we can run, we'll be a great team.

I didn’t use some random ranking from a particular week. It’s what they were at the end of the season.

Don’t forget about getting skulldrug by the worst Alabama team in over a decade.

No. I was in the woods camping and listening to Curly’s Folly on the radio. Regardless, LSU’s performance against Alabama in 2024 was an abomination.
