Alleva said he and Mainieri discussed “the entire program” in their Thursday sit-down, including “possible new staff members” and an addition to Alex Box Stadium for a weight room

Hopefully a real third base coach so that Nolan can go back to running stop watches.

CPM didn't say that Alan Dunn called him and begged him to stay.

That doesn't necessarily mean new assistant coaches. I'm pretty sure it means an additional non-coach staff member.

Could be support staff. That's a trend across college sports that a coach would have to lobby the AD for, especially when he's got another school's interest I his pocket. I really doubt they would be publicly talking about replacing coaches when no one has left yet.

From Maineri's interview:

quote:

How much was your staff involved in your decision and thoughts in the last two days?

“They were kept abreast of everything. They all have families as well, so they would have been impacted. And that was another strong consideration. Quite frankly, the majority of the staff really didn’t want to leave.

This caught my eye. Someone is ready to go.

Some of the younger, under paid because of their duties may be looking to move on, as is usual in those positions. Dunn would have to move for a HC position, and bama just signed La. Tech's HC. Cann't see UT dropping down to an assistant to a HC they just tried to sign. Rice is not open yet, which means the Tulane job is not either. So, where else would Dunn interview to be a HC? AC is not ready to move on yet, I would think. Too inexperienced for now.

Nothing that I've heard.

After listening to Mainieri's interview (linked in the other thread) this morning, his comment about how he appreciated Joe Alleva agreeing to show support for the staff, I got the impression maybe Mainieri was saying he got the AD to agree to some raises for the assistant coaches.

His last comment about Latz that he has a medical problem (not related to his arm) that needs to be taken care of really puzzles me. He sounded like it might be some kind of illness, not an injury of some kind.
