The ND message boards have been on fire lately. Check out this cope post.

quote:

need to take a step back to move forward. Sure ND was winning 10+ games per year the last 5 years, but what happened in the NY6 bowls and CFP bowl games? EMBARRASSING LOSSES.

The reality is, the program wasn't close to beating the elites. There was ZERO improvement in those types of games from 2012 through 2020. ZERO!! This wasn't going to change under Kelly because he was set on recruiting down a different aisle.

The question I have for everyone here is, do you want to win a championship every so often and be in the mix every year or be in the mix, but in reality have no shot at winning.

Personally, the last 5 years were smoke and mirrors. Lipstick on a pig is still a pig. The wheels were bound to fall off at some point, they would have last season if they didn't bring in Coan. This year they they decided to rip the bandaid off and go with who they have. It backfired, but that was the decision.

The recruiting has been much better, let's see if the classes hold together or they fall apart, we'll know in a couple of months how the 2022 class ends up.

I forgive you. You redeemed yourself with the continuing obsession with other programs.

Everyone knows the easiest way to compete for championships is to lose more games

Big difference in DC vs. HC.

Keep in mind this is university that hired Gerry Faust whose previous college experience was ZERO … he was a high school coach. Moeller high, although a power house then, does not prepare a coach for a P5 job.

Based on what? Looking good in a quarter zip is not a program building skill

Reminds me of Mike Archer taking over when Bill Arnsbarger left.

I think Yeti's point was that Freeman didn't inherit as loaded of a roster as Les did.

I think his point is he inherited a potential playoff team and that poor coaching and game planning are the reasons they’ve lost to the likes of Marshall and Stanford.

Here are the facts.

Kelly left Notre Dame number 5 in country.

Kelly left Notre Dame with a bid to New Years Six Fiesta Bowl.

Kelly left Notre Dame with winningest record in their history.

There was nothing to rebuild. It is only Freeman’s to screw up…..which he has done with a losing record since taking over.

He may end up being a good HC but you can’t be a first year HC at a place like Norte Dame it’s a huge gamble and it’s biting them in the arse. They should’ve went all out for Luke Fickell or Urbs

Agree with the first part. There are some growing pains in nearly all coaching changes. That last part is bullshite.

Running the table in 2005 would have been more painful than the result we actually got.

USC-Texas were not budging from #1/#2. Bama started 9-0 and were ranked 4th still behind Miami.

This is correct.

The SEC Crown didn’t carry the weight that it does now.

USC Texas was always the matchup unless one lost.

He is Mike Archer 2.0. He was the one that the players wanted. He is also the one that Arnsparger was lobbying for. We know how that turned out

It doesn't hurt

Recruiting and building good defenses are the reasons I thought he would do pretty good

don't know. That 2005 team was pretty stacked. Potential NC winner if not for katrina
I thought his point was he inherited talent to win immediately...like les did

ND is not even close to a rebuild. Freeman is just THAT bad
