There's plenty to criticize BK about, but there was nothing that could've gotten this done.

The criticism is putting all your eggs in the BU basket for 3 years and being so out of touch that they didn't see the flip coming if some team hit his number. Even if it wasn't Michigan, you knew someone was going to make a late run and throw the bank at him.

LSU got complacent and it's probably going to burn them at QB this cycle.

The big picture issue is the reactiveness of BK instead of proactiveness. It shows itself repeatedly in his program and has since day one.

Some real losers in this thread.

Anyone wishing injury on a kid that took at $12 million dollar payday deserves anything bad coming their way.

Every damn person in here would make the same choice if in the Underwood's shoes.

I said something similar in another thread about there’s a lot of pieces to the puzzle and no one player means you automatically are going to win a championship.

Wait do you think that Larry Ellison is doing this for political reasons and not because he has more money than he knows what to do with and his wife wants her Alma mater to be good at football?

No, my response was to a comment pointing out how insignificant this money is for Ellison as a percentage of income… juxtaposed against the fact that it’s also enough to reset the NIL market.

I’m just pointing out this is how the entire modern world works — Everything from law to social media/news to entertainment.

We want sports to be a level playing field, but life isn’t. Everything is bought and sold. LSU is not poor, but we really can’t compete if masters of the universe are going to start boosting CFB recruiting lol.

People keep saying it’s going to self-correct, but it didn’t self-correct in the NFL when this became a problem for the league… The NFL needed an antitrust exemption in order to legally implement a salary cap & that’s what it would take for the NCAA to do it.

That’s probably not going to happen because the NFL abused their exemption with TV markets & feds threaten it all the time. And the NCAA has done nothing to garner even the tiniest amount of goodwill from anyone lol.

I could inject my own political commentary & talk about younger generations, social mobility, pooling industry/wealth, observations about campaign finance + the people leading the country… but all that is probably better left implicit.

His net worth is 235 MILLION not BILLION. 200 billion would be like a third of all of Michigans GDP lol. So him paying 12mil is more like a millionaire paying 60K. And for someone who makes 100k a year, it’s about the same as spending $6k. So not throwaway money but also not that much relatively. Not sure I’d spend 6% of my personal wealth in single untested high school kid tho…

Uh, no. Billion is correct. Google it. Dude has a higher net worth than Warren Buffett.

I’m amazed at how confident some of y’all can be when you’re completely wrong.

As November 13 2024, he is the third-wealthiest person in the world, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with an estimated net worth of US$208 billion, and the second-wealthiest in the world according to Forbes, with an estimated net worth of $237 billion.

I'll be rooting so hard for Michigan to be irrelevant during his time there.

More specifically, that Underwood completely flops as a QB.

And this is why NIL is a complete joke and the NCAA failed miserably. Let the kids go pro at 18 if they want, leave it up to the NFL if they want to accept them or not in some type of developmental league. And the ones that come to college you have a cap you can only make $100,000 a year or something like that through NIL. No different than having a salary at a job. I make my company a hell of a lot more money than I get paid.

Yes. It was a long game con. He wasn’t ever coming here, and his family were so convincing we lost an entire season promoting his chief recruiter to a job he was woefully unprepared for. That’s the part that makes me the most salty, no way does BK roll the dice with Sloan unless the family convinced him they were sincere.

College football, with the current NIL situation and the free-transfer portal, is in bad shape. It's just a pro league now, but even worse, since players can jump from team to team EVERY year.

You haven't seen nothing yet. Wait until revenue sharing kicks in come spring of 2025.
