This is 100% on the players

Base-running cost us 2 runs (minimum)

Hal H. starting is widely criticized

These issues are on the coaches and can easily be the reason for the loss imho.

Peterson was CRUISING

He was not. It was time to pull him. He probably shouldn't have started that inning.

He keeps putting Hess in and Hess keeps givingvup HR's.
Thats not on anyone else.
Hess took a demotion and acted like it was a promotion, thats a problem. Hes given up a Hr in 9 out of 10 outings what would make you think today us the day its going to change.?????

Hughes should never be allowed off the end of the bench lest he infest the others. He left 3 RISP and let 1 run in. But its Maineris fault for having him in the lineup, and having Cabrera batting 4th. He should be in the 7 or 8 position and be our worse hitter. He has not been dependable in the last 6 weeks.

Can he recruit left handed pitchers? Can he not call 8 fastballs in a row?

Give me a break. He gets the blame when they lose as the credit when they win.

If they miss Omaha this year and next then he needs to be fired.

It's the same story most of the years.
We are always short of pitchers or we have mismanaged the pitching staff.

So if they won its 100% on the players too?

Coaches put players in position to win games.

Coaches aren't responsible for players missing bases when rounding them.

Check our pitchers:

Henry: Walked 4th, 7th, and 8th batters faced
Peterson: Walked 3rd, 5th and 11th batters faced
Vietmeier: walked 1st batter faced
Fontenot: walked 2nd batter faced
Hess: walked first batter faced

I left out of my rant that he also burned up the pitching staff for the rest of the series (should be short).

This is asinine. Alan Dunns shitty pitch calling is way more to blame than anything Hughes did.

HH had one fricking opportunity defensively and did not make a play...3rd base is a power hitting position and we have a guy who can’t break a pane of glass when he swings. I’ve never seen a guy swing without any force start for LSU. HE frickING STARTS!

Next year will look more like 2018 than 2019.

He can put in our best reliever when we are up 4-1. Do you believe that Trent V is our best reliever?????????

And he still had less of a negative impact than Alan Dunn calling for 800 fastballs in a row to Reese albert.

--A lefty against their 2-4 hitters would nice. Their lefty out of the pen shut down our top of the order in the 7th after Hughes had walked. Our guy threw 9 straight fastballs then gave up a dinger.
-- 10 walks is just horrible in a super regional
-- 2 costly base running mistakes at this stage of the season is insane
-- Hughes being in the lineup is beyond stupid. He is in the lineup for his glove and then on a somewhat difficult play he drops the ball.

If we had a 3rd basemen we might have been up 8-9 runs. There is absolutely no defending having HH start at 3rd...name any guy who started at LSU that was just about a guaranteed out. Let’s not even talk about how a coaches son can’t even run the bases...WTF

What does Paul get blame for?

Apparently you can’t blame him or Dunn for anything the players do wrong.

It's his job to make sure the players are prepared to win and they weren't ready for today. I've been defending Paul all season, but there's no defending that pathetic showing. Walks, errors, base running errors, batters swinging at absurd pitches. All of the stuff falls on the head coach.

I will never understand how a major d1 program has no LHP and has to start a guy like HH at 3rd base

You can coach them up, but players have to execute. Coaches can go over your deficiencies and how to correct them, but when game time comes, if they don't perform, that's the player. They need to be held accountable as well. People seem to forget that.

The performance on the field is always going to be on the head coach whether it's good or bad. The head coach is responsible for the roster, the lineup, the rotation and motivation of the players. That goes for any sport from college on down.
