the fact of the matter is Les is losing ballgames now for two reasons: failure to adequately replace departing talent and a lack of attention to details. Before now, he was pretty good at one of those. He's never going to be the coach that nitpicks the little things. And it'll continue to cost us. If he stays or goes, whatever, I don't really care. I've become pretty apathetic towards LSU football.

Mike Tomlin
Recruits may get confused and think he is Kevin Sumlin (Sumlin to USC).
Saban to Pittsburgh to set this all in motion. Texas stories are slight of hand. Book it...

Good post. Pretty much feel the same. Sucks. Hoping the next the next two classes come through and we can contend again heading into 2015.

so let's fire Miles, and replace him with a guy who has yet to win the Sun Belt conference.......
sounds like a great idea

When does Baseball season start and can we win a post season game?
LSU athletics have been generally disappointing.

My Christmas wish would be Jim Harbaugh, but that will never ever happen.

I don't know...whoever knows when and how to call a timeout. There is probably a few of them.

I will admit I would like to see what some of the coaches at these programs with less resources could do at LSU. The talent base in LA is also very good.

Let's just assume for the sake of discussion, LSU finishes 8 - 4 this year.
What current, successful coach would consider coming to a school that fired their coach that went 40 - 8 in the last four seasons?

I've been saying this for a month now. he now has nfl ties, so he could bring a good dc with him. LSU has Jennings and will have harris, two qb's that would fit perfectly in his offense, ect. it sets up perfectly, and it could very well happen......as long as Oregon doesn't get hammered by the ncaa, for the willy lyles thing.

I would agree with Hannigriff that Devall is better than any of our LBs and Collins is better than any of our safeties. Also CamRob is the better than any offensive lineman LSU has committed right now.

LSU is a great job where it's almost impossible not to be competitive and comes with a high salary, and you'd have TONS of people aiming for it. At this point, you're also not going to be compared directly to your predecessor anymore who may be the GOAT among college football coaches
If I was LSU and I'm coach shopping , I pick up the phone and call Jimbo Fisher. He's proven. He's known. He's got a Saban pedigree. He's still remembered fondly @ LSU. Does anybody really not like Jimbo? I think he'd be the top candidate for any of the big 3 SEC jobs (UGA, UA, and LSU) likely to be available in the next 5 years.
Most of the other names thrown (like Charley Strong) out don't seem like good fits for LSU to me personality wise. If you're looking for a coordinator to roll the dice on, Kirby Smart seems like the guy who's been groomed to walk into a program like LSU and play to it's strengths (recruiting base, premium defenders). He was also popular from his time there I presume. Also, this would be a little bit of a jab at Alabama fans who presume him or Fisher to be the front runners to take over when Saban retires

Probably almost everyone one of them... This gets tossed around a lot, but the truth is that competitive people always think they can do better than the other guy. Coaching at LSU in Tiger Stadium would be enticing to anyone (and you get paid a lot). Competitive/successful people usually don't focus on what happens if things go wrong - they usually focus on what they need to do to succeed.
I'm not saying axe Miles, but it wouldn't be hard to find some successful people to take the job.

People need to calm down. The best thing about our situation is that there is only one Nick Saban

I predict Saban will be in Burnt Orange either the next season or two seasons from now.
