I would honestly be happy with anyone. Miles is the most overrated coach in America. All his numbers were done off the platform Saban set for him. He has not elevated our program or maintained it, it's worse!

I predict Saban will be in Burnt Orange either the next season or two seasons from now.
I'm sure you also predicted a win last night.

I hate this thread. Did you think this was a novel thought?

Les Miles is nothing more than a trust fund baby who blew through all of his daddy's money and it shows. He is a borderline average coach at best.
He inherited an already established, national championship contending program and ran with it as long as he could. It's been downhill ever since 2012 title game and will continue to go down.
The good news for us is that it will get better eventually once he is long gone... It just has to get worse first.

I agree. Miles is a terrible coach that has benefitted from Sabans foundation. The right person at lsu can lead to dominance once again due to the recruiting base. I would be okay with lsu giving anyone other than Less that shot.

People need to calm down. The best thing about our situation is that there is only one Nick Saban
The bad news is that he's at a school that we have to play every year.

Not saying I want Les gone, or after this season, but I would keep looking at Curtis Johnson.

All you have to do is look at Miles's record before LSU as well as his record without Saban's players to see that he is average at best. He also overtook Bob Stoops last year as the biggest choke artist coach in big games.
Miles makes bed shitting look like an art form in big games. Particularly in bowl games.

Hudspeth, fitzgerald, cutcliff, shaw, jimbo, briles, Patterson, I would love any of these guys at lsu instead of miles

If CLM retires or in some other way departs, a small handful of names does come to mind - not to say I'm sold on any of them, but some of these could be realistic LSU HC possibilities. Oh, and I am trying to not include the usual cliche names we see repeated here in threads like these, over and over and over again...
Kirk Ferentz
Art Briles
Charlie Strong
Mike Gundy
George O'Leary
Al Golden
Dana Holgorsen
Dan Mullen

What a retarded argument this is. A clear indication that you're just complacent and don't want to go to the trouble of looking - which would be the clearest indication of all that we have a mediocre coach that has finally run out of Saban gas.
Give me a couple of names that could/would actually come to LSU for the head coach position.

I would swap Miles right now for Briles or Kingsbury in a second.

quote:The really harsh reality - what I see, is that CLM has taken the rock-solid football culture/base left as Saban's LSU legacy and over his tenure dismantled it completely. He seems to think college football still exists in the Woody Hayes/Bo Schembechler era. And he seems tone-deaf to the realities of today's SEC.

The next HC is going to be re-building from the foundation up.

OK the thing with this is if its not a "big name coach" a lot of people will be saying WTF??
But, the thing is, Les is an average coach on a team with elite talent. If he was still at a school like Okie State, he would be a .500 guy. Which is what he was at Okie State. He doesnt bring anything special to the coaching aspect of the game. And his in game decisions and moves are horrible. People need to realize that LSU has made Les Miles. He walked in to 1 of the best jobs, if not the best job, in all of college football. The facilities were already here, the program was established. And there is no other school in the state that you have to recruit against. Is he a good recruiter? Sure. But Frank Wilson is our BEST and most important recruiter. If you get the top 15-20 players in the state each year, you will be competitive. And the state of LA is a loaded state with talent each year, and the only major football school in the state is LSU. And with all the $$$ we have and facilities, the school basically recruits itself.
And you can name big names all you want, but I seriously doubt we would be able to get a big named guy that wants to leave the school hes at, where he already built up the program.
So youre gonna get a coach that isnt well known, and thats OK. Tulane turned down Jim Harbaugh because they didnt know who he was. He turns into 1 of the best coaches in all of football. There was a time when LSU hired a guy that wasnt well known in Nick Saban. He turned into 1 of the best college coaches of all time. Nobody really knew who Charlie Strong was, or Kevin Sumlin, or Hugh Freeze, or Franklin at Vandy. Hell Klingsbury at Texas Tech is a hell of a head coach and just in his 1st year. There is a lot of great coaches out there, better than Les when it comes to coaching strategy and Xs and Os. They just might not be well known because they are young or at small schools. And every year, there is always a young coach that pops up on the national because of what hes done at small schools with minimal to average talent.
I mean its not like the only good coaches are the guys that are established. If thats true, then the only teams that are good would be Bama, Stanford, FSU, etc. There are a lot of really good coaches out there.. Coaches are just like players. You have your older well known vets that are household names, but you also have your young guns that are chomping at the bit to get an opportunity. And once they get that opportunity they take advantage of it and dont look back. Every year there is a coach that jumps up into that status of being labeled a great coach.
There are a lot of guys out there that are better than Miles. Especially when you consider the amount of $$$ Les makes. For the $$$, hes 1 of the worst coaches in the country. He and Mack Brown. The $$$$ they make is a joke when compared to how good a coach they truly are. There is a guy out there that is waiting for his opportunity to move up in the coaching world and is a damn good coach. We just need to find him and give him that opportunity.
But the thing is, a lot of the sunshine pumpers dont think that there is a guy out there better than Les. They like to pull the "well look at the records" and all that crap. If you can go above .500 at a team like Iowa St, San Jose St. ULL, etc...basically at small schools with little $$$ and resources and recruits to get, you are doing a HELL of a job. But a lot of people around here only want a well known guy because those are the only guys they know of. If we get a guy with that doesnt have an amazing win % then people will think its a shite hire and bring out the "well look at what les did here..." crap. Thing is, we could of been coached by any coach in major D1 college football and would of been just as good or better. I want us to go out and get a young guy. I like Klingsbury ALOT. There are plenty of EXTREMELY good coaches out there that we havent heard of. Just gotta find that guy and give him a chance.
