re: Prepare yourselves for this scenario - droliver
Georgia's loss pretty much shut the door on 2 SEC teams getting in. For the OP's scenario to play out we would likely need Oklahoma to lose. Right now, barring upset it's: SEC champ Clemson-Miami winner Wisconsin-OSU winner (assuming OSU beats Michigan) Oklahoma...

re: OFFICIAL: Bring BACK Jim McElwain Thread - droliver
Presumably, Dabol is going back to the NFL when he finishes his "apprenticeship" at Alabama for another OC job there. He came to UA to build his NFL resume, not with the idea of being a college head coach. It came out with Kiffin that Saban asks these guys to promise him a minimum 2 year commitm...

re: If Bama is #1 team then LSU is Top 5 in talent - droliver
LSU played well and were competitive, but that really wasn't a very close game. A really flat Alabama team was 2-3 TD's better. Brighter days are surely ahead for LSU though. Despite having a below average or worse QB, LSU is already a top 20-30 team on the field with a puncher's chance to beat a...

re: Bama doesn't even have to play the game to win..... - droliver
LSU could definitely and plausibly win a low scoring game here, anyone saying otherwise has never watch LSU getting off the bus. It's full of NFL caliber athletes that can disrupt anyone on a give day. If you can successfully gum up a run heavy UA attack, all bets are off....

re: Saints fan here...props to Ingram - droliver
Ingram has been a very good (if not great) NFL running back for 7+ seasons now. He can run, block, receive, and has been a non-problem in the clubhouse. He's been a near pro bowl level performer for the last 3 years and is the Saints best RB now. Arguing he's a "bust" is just having unrealistic exp...

re: Texas A&M shows that Alabama is vulnerable against a Dual-Threat QB - droliver
He’s was t much of a dual threat last night. The most impressive things Monds did is scramble to extend some plays. He was under a lot of pressure most of the night and just avoided about 6-7 sacks. I was very impressed with his poise and think he’s going to be formidable over the next few years...

re: What is the biggest concern for your team - droliver
Alabama is 1) accumulating a lot of injuries on the defensive side. 2) still not seeing much progression of Hurts skills in the pocket and accuracy downfield. ...

re: Can we talk about targeting - droliver
Sorry, but you can’t defend the sorry state of tackling in this. On every play, you see defenders launch head-first and helmet down to make hits rather then tackles. That whole technique needs to be legislated out of the game as it’s an extroidinarily dangerous play for the defender and person bein...

re: The Vandy win. Was this the most complete game - droliver
The 2011 Citrus Bowl win over Michigan State was the worst beatdown of a good team with a great coach I've ever seen in my life. That MSU team has a fair number of NFL players that came from it. While impressive, you have to remember it was Vanderbilt we beat last week. That was just a physical m...

re: The SEC West will come down to the Iron Bowl - droliver
Based on what they've shown it's still not clear they're locks to beat any of the SEC west or UGA. Even the worst of the west is talented physically enough to match up with this Auburn team. Even Arkansas, Ole Miss, and TAM can score a lot on most teams, and LSU has about 15-20 future pros on it eve...

This isn't anything like the "textbook issues" at UA and UGA which involved selling their issued textbooks back for cash. These UF players had stolen credit card data and we're making cash transfers...

re: how do you see LSU's season playing out? - droliver
Lot of negaTigers on here. That's a pretty manageable schedule to me to still win 10 games. Only Alabama outclasses them on paper from a physical standpoint, and this version of Alabama is probably the least impressive to date on the field since Saban's first team....

re: Where does Auburn have an advantage over Bama this year in football? - droliver
Auburn is stacked at those positions.
Auburn's "stacked" group aren't even starters for the most part at Alabama. The recruiting depth at UA has just been so obscene that the separation in talent is substantial right now. I don't know that other the Carlson at PK, there's clearly a...

Aside from kicker, there's no unit Auburn has that has an advantage over Alabama going into the season. UA has had as many as 10 1st team preaseason all SEC picks by some....

re: If Oklahoma joined SEC every team/school would literally lose money. - droliver
People making a case for Oklahoma in the SEC have not been paying attention to what's going on with ESPN. They're going bankrupt over their locked in deals with NBA, NFL, and NCAA. The money for conference TV deals is drying up as has been shown with several of the 2nd tier leagues getting killed...

re: What will Alabama be like after Saban retires? - droliver
About 6 years ago, I heard from someone involved with the hockey club, that they were looking to add one men's sport. Rumor was it was down to soccer, hockey, and lacrosse. I think hockey is easily the most established club right now.
Uhhhh. No. Hockey is: 1. expensive to run...
