re: Just for Curiosity, I have a question for lawyers and law enforcement only - droliver on 2/23/23 at 10:15 pm
I’ve worked in law enforcement 15 years and I would’ve at the very least charged him with accessory to murder even though charges could potentially be dropped or reduced dependent upon the cooperation
The DA has already said on the record there was no crime he could be charged with... Posted on SEC Rant Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |
re: When conferences inevitably expand again, we need to focus on North Carolina and Virginia. - droliver on 2/18/23 at 10:15 pm The premise here is off and 20+ years out of date on what drives values.
The era of expanding for some population center is kind of dead. What drives media rights value now is brand value (eyeballs). It’s why SEC schools in small population states are worth significant more then schools like Nor... Posted on SEC Rant Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Just finished watching the 1993 Sugar Bowl for the first time. - droliver on 2/2/23 at 7:31 pm Was a senior at UA that year and was at the game. There was so much tension and release with finally winning one after Coach Bryant. 2009 felt similar.
That being said, that 1992-93 offense was so horrifically bad. Just a paleolithic offense Stallings insisted on running. Without that near GOAT d... Posted on Alabama Sports Board Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |

re: As a Bama fan I can admit I was completely wrong about Burrow. - droliver on 1/22/23 at 5:47 pm While there's something 'off' with his personality (like on the spectrum kind of off), he's just a fantastic player. Cool as ice... Posted on SEC Rant Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Once the playoffs expand, what SEC teams will constantly be in? - droliver on 1/20/23 at 11:41 am 3 teams in most seasons seems most realistic.
As we're dropping divisions, it gets a little different with league play and the SECCG (both of which participants would be in a 12 team field most years). In the NIL landscape you would expect some combo of UA, UGA, LSU, TX, and TAM to be perennial ... Posted on SEC Rant Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: The playoff committee got the 4 teams right. It’s the seeding they got wrong. - droliver on 1/11/23 at 8:07 am As TCU beat Michigan head up, the premise here is silly they weren't seeded correctly for whom they had.
How to treat Alabama, clearly one of the best 4, was a tricky issue and I've no problem with what was ultimately done. ... Posted on SEC Rant Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Just watched the tackle. That's not what I was expecting - droliver on 1/2/23 at 10:53 pm I'm guessing that was a blunt cardiac contusion that put him into an arrythmia and cardiac arrest. It's the kind of thing you see in little league baseball and lacrosse on occasion where a ball strikes the precordium. There have been multiple fatalities from this kind of thing over the years in foot... Posted on SEC Rant Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2) |
re: Harrison Hit - droliver on 1/1/23 at 9:37 am If we care about player safety and reducing concussions that has to be a foul. That type of launching with no attempt to tackle is going to have to be legislated out of the game if we want the sport to exist.in some form... re: I admit it: totally different without WR injury - droliver on 1/1/23 at 9:26 am 2021 Alabama says, "hold my beer".
Injuries to QB, WR , OT, and center in modern offenses are devastating for most team's offense production. ... Posted on SEC Rant Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |

re: Alabama should have been in the playoffs - droliver on 12/31/22 at 1:22 pm We are where we deserved to be. If any season without a title is a disappointment, it makes for a very unhappy existence. 11-2 is a good season
Enjoy a great win in the Sugar Bowl where multiple nfl picks cared enough to play because they live the game and their teammates.... Posted on SEC Rant Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Alabama 45 @ Kansas State 20 Final - ESPN - droliver on 12/31/22 at 12:48 pm KSU has played well, but they have no margin for error. The talent gap just jumps off the screen here... Posted on SEC Rant Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Which Program Deserved the 1983 National Title? - droliver on 12/26/22 at 9:52 pm No, Auburn finished 3rd in both recognized major polls at the time. There’s not really a case to revisit the verdict informed voters made contemporaneously . Good season, but not a championship one the way it played out... re: I’ve always wondered why Malzahn lost his offense after 2013 - droliver on 11/22/22 at 8:53 pm The substitution rule and lineman downfield point of emphasis (for umpires) clearly clipped some of the magic of HUNH/RPO schemes. With Gus’ system, some of the blocking rules limiting chop blocks also hurt to a lesser degree.
You do still see the tempo influence though with teams like Tennessee ... Posted on SEC Rant Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: ESPN: Chance to Make the College Football Playoff - droliver on 11/20/22 at 7:09 pm
Alabama has 0 chance. A 2-loss non-conference winner isn't sniffing the playoffs.
All depends on what the alternatives are. 15% chance probably overstates it, but it's certainly not 0%. It would have been a lot higher if Michigan and TCU didn't eek out wins, but subsequently Tennes... Posted on SEC Rant Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |
re: Alabama hard to kill - droliver on 11/20/22 at 2:14 pm Will become clear after Clemson and USC games next week if there's still an improbable path. If they both lose then the margin in OM/OSU is what to watch. ... Posted on SEC Rant Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Alabama hard to kill - droliver on 11/20/22 at 2:00 pm It's not a 0% chance and UT losing keeps a small pathway open.
Those two last second wins by TCU and Michigan and USC coming back really put a crimp in it as they keep some 1 loss alternatives in the mix. An absolute beat down in the UM/OSU has to happen.
Scenario now is USC loses to ND or PC ... Posted on SEC Rant Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |
re: What's the highest Bama could end up ranked? - droliver on 11/13/22 at 6:02 pm We actually could end up at #4 in the AP if we win out and
TCU loses
OSU/UM is a blowout game (with the loser falling below us)
LSU is blown out in SECCG (or loses to UAB or TAM prior)
USC drops to UCLA, Notre Dame, or the pac 12 CG
There's no way we actually get to #4 in the CFB committee ... Posted on Alabama Sports Board Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: 2017 - droliver on 11/7/22 at 8:53 am Not a ridiculous comp to 2017, but they're going to need some help.
Clemson losing was BIG for this falling into place but they really needs TCU to stumble and Oregon to drop a game to kneecap the alternatives. They also need the Michigan/OSU game to be a blow out victory by either team to remov... Posted on SEC Rant Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
