This is a fan base civil war. You are either pro or anti Oregeron/administration. The anti Ed side is losing as we are stuck with Ed and leadership for a while longer. However, the pros are losing this skirmish today as the optics of what is going on under Ed’s watch are bad.....program going down the shitter.

The protracted multi season firing of Cholly Mac, the death of Bo Rein, and the knee jerk hiring of Jerry “one of us” Stovall as a quick replacement felt like this.

if arriving on campus in '89 is old time (oof)...

LSU has always been unwilling to strive for exceptionalism. They have fallen arse backwards into it before but not ever said balls-to-the-wall whatever it takes. Ever. The lone break from this was when we hired Mark Emmert and he brought in Saban. Those two aren't the moves i'm talking about, both had questions at the time. But once Nick started winning, with Emmert at the helm, we had a few years where we were legit trying to be best. Built the practice facility (one of the 1t of its kind, now severely outdated).

We would have lost Saban eventually because he recognized Emmert as willing to aim sky high. Hasn't happened since and never used to. 9-3 9-3 9-3 6-6(shite) 9-3 10-2 (woohoo) is the land we need to recognize we live in now.

Gov, BoS, and Chancellor just don't care. Until that changes, we're screwed.

No. When is enough enough.
6 yrs ago we didn’t have Canada, we didn’t have Aranda, and we didn’t have Oeaux.
We were maybe the best college team of all time. So if we lose them so be.
Just move on. Don’t throw out unlimited money.

Arnsbarger says he is not leaving, then leaves for the Florida AD job. As he departs he recommends that LSU hire his DC—a 33 year old Mike Archer. TV crews interview players who essentially demand that Archer be hired. LSU interviews Steve Spurrier, but hires Archer. One year later Arnsbarger hires Spurrier at Florida. LSU suffers through 6 straight losing seasons and does not beat Florida following Spurrier’s hiring until 1997.

Sadly in my life LSU football has been average to bad more than good to elite.

That’s why I’m so pissed to watch what should have been an easy maintainting of the program after 2011 be squandered because of stubbornness, pride, stupid decisions.

Wait till these 9 win seasons fall to 6-7 win seasons.

I've been following LSU since the 60's. This was the norm, until Saban was hired. Arnsparger was a brief respite, but he couldn't handle the BS either.

Why do you think Dietzel left a year after a national championship.

Les Miles flirting with Michigan and Arkansas comes to mind.

Aranda hasn't even hinted that he is interested so far.

Yeah I was just here to say the "Crazy days at LSU" cover from SI was by far the craziest.

Sorry I was young back then and hardly knew what a football was. I became addicted to LSU football after I joined the Navy in 62. I listened to LSU football on WWL while standing watch on a small transistor radio in my shirt pocket.
But the gist of what I was saying is confirmed by other posts.

Nick Saban hires John Thompson to be DC.

Before he ever coached a game, Arkansas hired him away from. Us.

Shot happens.
