For the "Let's throw Harris to the wolves and see what he can do" crowd....

I am not saying that I wouldn't like to see him play more...in fact, I WANT to see him play more. However, do we need to re-visit 2008 to see what "throwing a QB to the wolves" can do?
Jarrett Lee was thrown out there in 2008 and told "go do it" and he did a LOT of good things....but he sure did make a lot of mistakes too. He was given too much to handle too quickly and he showed both good and bad. Granted, it was a lot out of necessity due to the clusterfrick that was Ryan Perrilloux, but the example is still valid.
Point being, Harris deserves more playing time and a chance to develop. However, do we really want to see him thrust into a role that is too much for him too quickly? Wouldn't you all rather see him brought along at a slower pace so that he develops properly and isn't subjected to what Lee was subjected to? Lee had to grow up by making his mistakes on the field for everyone to see and it took the Rantard fans 3 years to forgive those mistakes.
So let's not "throw Harris to the wolves and see what he can do", as others have suggested. Let us hope he gets to develop at his own pace and not too quickly just to satisfy the ADD, must win NOW crowd.

First, Harris is better than Lee.
Second, it sure looks like we are "throwing Jennings to the Wolves". He doesn't seem like he can handle it. Give the next guy in line a shot.

New Mexico State are the Aggies, not the Wolves. Common mistake.

He was thinking of the Lobos.

The expectations for Harris simply has to be tampered until he shines out there.

Lee didnt have the raw talent Harris has....comparing the situations is dumb...Lee started cause we had no other choice. He was serviceable but not an SEC caliber starting QB.

I can give you a ton of other examples of QBs that flourished as freshmen. If they've got it, they've got it, so put them on the field and let them show it.
True, if they struggle, if may affect their confidence, but these guys signed up to play big-boy football.
Now, I do understand that a QB needs to have full command of the offense, so if a QB comes in only in the fall, he may not have enough time to digest the offense. But Harris was here in the spring, so he should be ok.

Put it this way, do you believe Jennings is ready for the SEC schedule based on how he's performed thus far?

This is what I've been saying...upvote for you. But get prepared to be attacked.

How can one develop too quickly? If he develops, he develops. He has advanced himself. What's wrong with doing that quickly? And how does wanting to win make one ADD?

Well shite, when you only have 2 QB's, SOMEONE has to play??
I think if Harris was totally ready, he would have been starting by now. The coaches must know that he isn't quite there, yet. I say no need to damage the guy and throw him in as the starter too fast, that is all. If they two need to share time, then so be it.

I don't think Lee had the confidence and the resiliency of Harris IMO. This young guy has swag, just like most of these kids do now. It may be too early to throw him to the wolves full time, but he has to get more PT. On another note, if we think the offense is scaled back with Jennings, what do you think it will look like with Harris? However, after last Saturday, Les now knows he doesn't have the defense to grind out wins.

This guy better be able to handle the aggies in front of a quiet home crowd. Throw him out there.

Its a valid point, and some can't handle the pressure and fold, take their eyes off the field. As a coordinator, you design the calls to get the ball out of his hand, fairly quick. You can't have him sitting there taking hits, etc. It can be done. I think he will see blitz after blitz, though...to rattle him, so the calls will have to be confidence calls, with a pressure outlet. If prepared right, he will do fine, but it takes preperation that looks like is very lacking. The O-line could step up and help this process, but just hasn't gelled yet...

I agree but point out all players are different. Some may thrive more in that situation while others may be a mixed bag (JLee) and others may fall flat.
Harris certainly looks up to the task in many ways, not just performance but he looks so dynamic, crisp, energetic. He looks hungry, more than I think I've seen in an LSU QB in a long time.

Nope. Les sucks and Harris is a future HOF QB. START HIM NOW. We'll be patient with his TO's

Just because Lee threw some picks doesnt mean that a quarterback will get damaged if he plays as a freshman.

why are we even wasting his redshirt, then?

So what has Jennings showed you guys that makes you think he is so ahead of Harris?
He may know the plays in and out, but he's also shown that he can't execute those plays with efficiency.
