re: For the Coach O denouncers, what does he realistically need to do (W/L) to win you back?

agreed...you still can't just fire him and pay another buyout then hope to get a coach to come in to a program that has fired 2 coaches in 3 years and both had winning seasons

Yeah I hear you.
The bulk of my fanhood/formative years came during the Les era, so it just feels weird approaching a season without championship expectations.
I'll adjust and enjoy LSU football regardless.

Miles was almost fired for that season.
True but he was already leaking oil and starting to fade.

I'm not patting him on the back...just pointing out that he sorta rebounded after those early debacles.

No just at the QB position...which really isn't that important is it?

would get 3 years to build his program.
Yes, if he had a program to build. Which program are you referring to? Because he didn’t have a great resumè of building programs.
He’s had a season and more than a half. He’s lost to some shitty teams and hasn’t competed against Bama, once.
This will be close to 3 seasons right here.
10+ No excuses. He has his QB, Best OC in the country, time to put up or shut up, then pack up.

11 wins including a good bowl game win.

He needs to do what he promised. Don't meddle with the offense and to be a top notch recruiter. He has failed both in year 1. Let's see how he does this year. If not better, then he gets one more year and will be shown the door.

Les was finishing 3rd or worse in the west. He was justifiably fired.
I don't think anyone is arguing that point.

And 2nd or better in the West is what should be expected from Orgeron as well.
How many years are you willing to give o to start finishing "2nd or better in the West" before we cut ties with the guy? He's entering his 2nd year of being the man in charge, and with the interim time during the 16 season, he's had more than enough time to figure things out.
And he's been a part of the LSU coaching staff since January of 2015. This will be his forth full season with the program. If he can't do something impressive this season, he can go kick rocks as far as I'm concerned.

So a 1-11 record is okay with you as long as the win is against Bama?
Sounds good! You can do it o! Let's beat Bama!!!

Again, I theoretically agree, unless Alleva came out and publicly took blame for the hire, etc.
Logically speaking NO ONE, not writers, not fans, not other coaches, not players, should look at this as a normal hire. And that should be the PR bend "The AD went rogue and hired a coach without due process," or something. It needs to be publicly clear that this was a BAD process, driven by a BAD decision maker. It could be successfully maneuvered by skilled leadership, of which, LSU doesn't have much.
We are doing the program a massive disservice by treating O like every other coach. And that's the rub with all of these threads: the O perception. People who buy into the "it doesn't matter, Coach O is just like every other coach," and those who refuse to believe that.

I get that in order to get to where we want LSU to be, beating Bama is important. But, I don't get the notion that simply beating Bama is a successful season. I would much rather 11-1 with a loss to Bama than 7-5 and beating them.

reasonable and rant do not go together.
For some, it is just a personal hate and "down votes" will not change that.
If we beat Alabama and or somehow are in the SEC Championship game, it will place all the haters behind the wall..they will be silenced in public, but the hate will continue.
Boy, I bet Ole Les is thanking his lucky stars that he never had to put up with all the hate after he took his teams to Championship Games.

it's all about money. Alleva only has a job because financially he must be getting the job done at LSU...to fire O now and pay another buyout would cost him his job. Yes we all want that but he isn't going to essentially fire himself
although some can argue hiring O has already sealed his fate.

What I love about the “they’ll hate him even if he beats bama and wins a championship” arguement is
1. He hasn’t come close to doing the things they ever say
2. They’re the same people who shite on Miles who won a NC AND beat Bama before.

The O decision makes absolutely no sense if this were even a small rebuild. And it makes the decision far, far worse if we were to accept that fact.
its been almost 2 years...everyone pretty much agrees he was a bad hire. I am still hoping he proves everyone wrong bc i don't want the program to go back to the 90s

it'd take a lot to get that bad, but really the longer you wait on O to "develop" the bigger risk you take in this becoming a reality.
so if you have a 5-6 loss season and the heralded 2019 class starts to get picked apart, I see absolutely no reason you owe O a 3rd year.

How does own become a "Coach O denouncer"?
If you observed that he objectively did not possess the credentials to be hired LSU HC, did that make you a "denouncer"?

That's the genius in saying it and why it's so often used.
They know they'll never have to be proven wrong because Orgeron won't ever win.
