you've heard the expression...it aint how you start but how you finish.

Both seasons were equally frustrating.....but I'd rather finish strong after fking up early than start off strong....get everybody all worked up....and then shite the bed in key SEC games down the stretch. JMO.

One type of season speaks more to the team's potential than the other.

What good is a season if you're only able to perform well when there's nothing left to play for? Expectations are a privilege. They're earned.

Well, Miles was almost fired for that season. We’re all patting O on the back for his.

If he can't beat Bama and match Miles on wins then what was the point?

I thought all of the Miles haters said anyone could win at LSU.

yea just like the start of last year makes a bad 9 win team.

both teams sucked I guess...ive never said we were great last year. I was just saying 2015 wasn't anything to brag about...oh we made the initial rankings for playoff...then got destroyed in 3 straight games...impressive!

Exactly.

That's without even taking context into consideration - our schedule was a cakewalk down the stretch other than Bama, who we lost to by double digits.

you can't fire a coach that goes 9-3 in his first season

its funny, years ago this would have been looked at as a very favorable schedule considering the toughest one are at home sans Auburn. Now, its a built in excuse to under achieve.

He needs 10+ wins and actually push Bama to the brink instead of just being held at arm's length with a "respectable" looking score.

if its also another team largely carried by the D, I'm sure many will still be on the fence, given that we all already believe in Aranda. The offense has to perform especially considering the hire he made.

Yes. It's amazing how far we've watched the bar fall - where is James Cameron when we need him?

I keep hearing about our talent as reason for optimism, but we've never been lacking talent.

Since O took over, we've lost to teams who were less talented, and have beaten no one that was more talented.

Why is that suddenly supposed to change?

Why not? He never should have been hired in the first place.

1 year

Miles lost to MSU, OM, Akansas, ND, Auburn....what teams had he beaten in recent years that were more talented? 2011 bama...and that could be debateable

Dude, that’s exact question a lot of us are asking ourselves.

Trying to stay optimistic and forget about that Clown HC we have and just watch some LSU football.

It’s been a long offseason. I think I’m beat down. I’m kinda at the point of let whatever is going to happen, happen, let’s just get the season started.

buyout is why...and firing a first year coach for 9-3 wouldn't exactly make this job look lucrative for a new coach now would it?

I thought the point of firing Miles was to be better than that. What am I missing?

While theoretically true, O is not like any other hire by any Power 5 program. He's an anomaly and should be treated as such. In a poor show of logic and reason, Alleva ousted the accepted rules, procedures and history of successful hiring practices of college football coaches. The reward is not treating Alleva and O like O was the result of competent decision making. It wasn't.

Any coach that came in following Miles would get 3 years to build his program...correct?

O was hired because "Anyone could coach this talent to an NC."

So, no.

The O decision makes absolutely no sense if this were even a small rebuild. And it makes the decision far, far worse if we were to accept that fact.

I don't disagree with that premise at all. My question was directed at the thought of losing to teams like Troy should be ok because the last coach lost games.
