The talent and coaching on this roster should not be below 10 wins

We’ve had all of one 10 win regular season since 2012. It’s not as easy as it sounds.

Right and LSU should win 10+ regular season games 7/10 years

I love it when people make record predictions and they don’t even know who is on the schedule lol

I don't see a game on the schedule that LSU isn't capable of winning.

Ole Miss, Alabama, and OU are at home

@USCe, Arkansas, Florida and Aggie are all very very winnable road games.

I think 10-2 is very very likely. Winning the opener is a must though.

If we beat USC to start the year, that would likely mean a 9-3 or 10-2 record would involve multiple home losses which is rare for us.

Depends solely on if we can manage atleast an average defense that will be the difference between 12-0 and 8-4 . Offense will be fine

I expect to make the playoffs.

It's year 3. He has 100 million dollar contract. It's a 12 team playoff. We need to be dancing.

We’ve done that in a 10 year window once in the history of the program (2003-2012).

And of the 7 seasons during that period when we won 10+ regular season games, here is how our best P5 OOC opponent finished each year:

Year - Team - Record (Conf) - Ranking
2003 - Arizona - 2-10 (1-7) - NR
2005 - Arizona St - 7-5 (4-4) - NR
2006 - Arizona - 6-6 (4-5) - NR
2007 - Va Tech - 11-3 (7-1) - #9
2010 - UNC - 8-4 (4-4) - NR
2011 - Oregon - 12-2 (8-1) - #4
2012 - Washington - 7-6 (5-4) - NR

Here is our OOC schedule the first 3 years under Kelly:
2022- Florida St - 10-3 (5-3) - #11
2023 - Florida St - 13-1 (8-0) - #6
2024 - USC - TBD (maybe good?)
2024 - UCLA - TBD (probably bad?)

I don’t think a lot of people realize a couple of things:

1. How weak our OOC scheduling actually was in the Saban and early Miles years, compared to nowadays. I think everyone has this memory of us playing tough OOC games every year because of Oregon in 2011, but the reality is that most years our OOC schedule was garbage.

2. How much the scheduling over the past few years impacts perceptions about Kelly. If we had played some team that went .500 in the ACC or Big 12 instead of Florida State, we would have the vaunted “10+ regular season wins” in each of the first two years and the narrative would be completely different.

If Kelly keeps winning 6 SEC games every year, the playoff/championship opportunities will come.

We better make the playoff! I think we go 9-3 but the optimist in me says 10-2. As I’ve said before I can’t predict a W vs USC until I actually see us come out and play well week 1 but a win should certainly be expected. We always play like shite against Arky and @ A&M so even though I think we should beat both of those teams I think we drop one there. Finally, Ole Miss is the one game that I really hope we win this season if nothing else. I’m still pissed about that game last year, but I think we will split between them and Bama. All I have to say is I can’t wait to tailgate and be in TS with all you baws.

My only problem with what you said is that it pretends he took over Sabans team and not Coach O's and its eventual wasteland of talent.

I do agree though that LSU’s defensive issues showed up pretty early last season
The defense checked out as a whole. Especially the d line. Think back to Wisconsin. The d line didn't really start stuffing their o line until the last couple of series. That video of House trying to talk to Mekhi after the game, spoke volumes.

Wow, that is one hell of a speculation. What are we missing?

What about Nuss winning two Heismans this year?

I don’t. But next year we absolutely should be. Next year we should be a top 6 seed AT LEAST. I’ll temper expectations and be satisfied with 9-3 or 10-2.

But I just don’t see, as long as we beat USC, how we don’t go at least 10-2. Bama and Ole Miss will be tough games but I think Baker will have the D in good shape by the time the Rebels roll in. I think we beat USC and one of Ole Miss/Bama and drop a game we shouldn’t like OU/A&M/Florida and end up 10-2

Winning the opener vs USC would go a long way in making this season a success by our standards.

Gonna be a tough year if the defense isn't massively improved.

I have faith the staff will make it happen.....9-3 at best

Floor 9-3 but I think they’ll have a 10 or 11 win season.

He wasn't planning to have to fire his entire defensive staff, lose a safety to brain cancer, whiff on all db's they brought in last year, lose both DT's, have Perkins fail at ILB, fail at DE and have no solutions, and then monumentally miss in the portal for defensive linemen.
I feel that we have a chance to be very good on offense. Special teams should be good, if not better. But the defense is behind the 8 ball. It's going to take a fantastic coaching job in order to pull off 10 wins with this personnel.
Aside from Perkins (and probably Weeks) tell me where the defensive production comes from. Penn, Guillory, Burns and Ryan have proven to be significant liabilities. We've all seen them fail time and time again. They are not SEC caliber players.

I have no faith in any cornerback that I saw last year. Maybe there's someone waiting in the wings, but what I saw in the spring did not look good.

I like Savion Jones and Paris Shand, but they seemed to slow to play the position last season. Ole Miss made a mockery of them. They've said over and over that they don't have the defensive linemen that they need.

I don't mean to be negative. Usually, I spend this time of year tallying all of the wins we are going to ring up. But I'm trying not to build things up too high. I think we are going to lose 3 that we shouldn't, and probably pull an upset. I'm terrified of week 1 vs USC in Vegas. We have been terrible in openers for the last 4 seasons. I hope that changes, but I'm not expecting it.

This is the point I was trying to make in my other thread.

USC is a legit mirror image of us from a year ago. They were equally as bad, if not worse on defense and also lost a heisman winning QB. I very well could see a situation where they get the ball first and it takes our Offense/Defense time to settle in and go up a TD or 2 and we can't catch up. But ultimately I think our defense will be improved enough to give us a win similar to mizzou last year. 48-38 or something close.

If we beat USC, you have an easy path to 5-0 going into bye No. 1.

Then a 2-1 record is very doable vs

Ole Miss (We are coming off bye, they aren't)
@ Arky
@ Aggie

Then you have bye No.2

And a 3-1 record is very doable vs
Nick Saban less Bama
@UF
Vandy
OU

OU and Florida have brutal schedules and will likely be out of contention by the time we play them

I'm taking the Vegas over on our win total

Oldretard didn’t stop at suggesting LSU isn’t the biggest benefactor in the entire ncaa with the transfer portal

“9-3 AT BEST”…my goodness, another hot take by oldretard lmao
