don’t go crazy if OSU hits a homer in the first

Let’s just forget pitching matchups and just go out there and blow the doors off these guys.

I would prefer blowing the wheels off. Makes it harder to get anywhere.

This lineup is overdue for a massive day at the plate

I would feel a lot better if our hits were producing the type of run totals that they were earlier in the year. 7 runs on 11 hits is not on par with that

Not gonna have a massive day at the plate with the new sac fly and sac bunt strategy will have embraced

Somebody check me, but I think in all but one of Ty Floyd’s home starts against tournament teams this year, he’s given up a first inning homer and we’ve won
Central Connecticut
Arkansas
Tennessee
Alabama
Only exception is Samford

Has Floyd been officially announced as the starter? It wouldn’t surprise me at all if “The Johnsons” start Hurd instead of Floyd.

So nice to have someone on the board who watches regular season games. Thank you!

Why? After pitching Skenes yesterday their mindset is obviously pitch the best guy available each particular day regardless

I like “Johnson & Johnson” better

While I agree, there are a couple of reasons to be optimistic that we’ll be better:
1) We had gone a full week without seeing live pitching for the 1st time all year, I think. The time off from playing allowed guys to work on things they needed to, and now they can trust that and take it into games. And the more live pitching they start to see in consecutive games, the more their timing will come around. I think they’ll hit better in each game they play.
2) they could have scored more than 7 yesterday, but the game plan was to play small ball and manufacture runs, knowing that it wouldn’t take many to win with Skenes. I doubt we bunt much, if at all, moving forward. And although we were only 3-11 with runners in scoring position, we had a couple of sac flies and ground balls that were outs, but did the job of getting runs in with men on 3rd with less than 2 outs. I thought we had a lot of good, productive at-bats, and didn’t have nearly the swing and miss of the past few weeks. Pretty sure we only had 4 Ks.
3) and that bodes well moving forward, because I think we’ll see worse pitching than Tulane’s starter with each game. Oregon State is running out their 4th starter tonight, and I expect us to rough him up. And after we win tonight, there’s just no way either OSU or Sam Houston will have the arms to come out of the loser’s bracket and beat us twice.
4) Crews seems to have figured it out and is back on track. He had 3 hard hits yesterday, and his strikeout came in ABs where he got down in the count with some bad calls. I know he struck out swinging on a really good pitch, but he didn’t have nearly the swing and miss that he’d had the last few weeks. He fouled some off that you could tell he was right on, but juuuuuust missed. He seems to have gotten his confidence back, and now that he’s back to seeing live pitching every day, I think he’s gonna start barreling those up and lifting them into the gaps and over the fence.
5) as Crews goes, so do the rest of the bats. His hitting has a cumulative effect on the whole lineup. Not just his actual production, but when he’s going good and displaying confidence like he was yesterday, it takes the pressure off the rest of the guys, and they feed on it.
6) Jordan Thomspon was 2-3 with a sac bunt. He’s streaky, but when he’s hot, it really extends the lineup. We’re at our best when he’s hitting.
7) The Box at night is a huge advantage for both our pitchers and our offense. It gets our guys fired up and intimidates the opponents hitters and pitchers.
I think Ty uses the energy from the crowd tonight and shoves for 6 or 7 innings, our bats feast on subpar pitching, and we win going away. We finish the game with Ackenhouse or Cooper, leaving Hurd and Ack/Cooper/Coleman/Guidry to take care of Game 3 and keep it moving on to the Supers.

Floyd’s issue is not the long ball. It’s walking & hitting batters before he gives up the long ball.

COme on man, you've been around long enough to know a good portion of the baseball/football/WBB/MBB experts will totally flip out with each and every swing of momentum.
It is like a bunch of folks around here have never played any sport at a high level yet know more than millions a year coaches who have dedicated their lives to the sport.
