I think you might be on to something. The SEC should not have allowed this.

I don't get how the SEC or NCAA hasn't stepped in.

You expect the SEC office to play fairly when LSU is involved? You're either new here or you don't pay attention.

If the game gets cancelled, they should have to take the L for making such a poor decision to keep the game in Gainesville.

I wonder if a forfeit gets them off the hook for reimbursing all the fans that bought tickets

Just curious, why do you think they're out to get LSU all these years?

Woe is us!!!

I just did some research. Only 46 states are not expecting hurricane landfall this weekend.

Not a lot of alternatives guys, relax

Steve Caparotta, a meteorologist for WAFB Channel 9 in Baton Rouge, was shocked at the decision.

"This is the epitome of irresponsibility," he said on 104.5 FM Radio in Baton Rouge on Matt Moscona's show after looking at the latest update on the path of the storm at 4 p.m. Wednesday. "The Florida campus is closing Friday, but c'mon back we'll play some football Saturday?"

I am getting old and not real certain about this, but didn't Tenn. and Fulmer refuse to fly into BR for a game because of Rita? I think I remember that there was no option to cancel or forfeit and the game was moved to the Monday immediately following the Saturday?? I think the SEC stepped in and told Tenn. the game had to be played. Does anyone remember this? Thanks!

I don't care if Florida would have said:

We are planning on playing as scheduled but are making contingency plans to ensure that LSU and Florida play this weekend.

Instead they are playing a dangerous game of "poker"

Sounds like they are banking on the game getting cancelled to ensure they don't walk away with a loss. They don't believe they can beat LSU and they know they won't beat LSU in BR.

Be a good time for Alleva to make a public announcement.

"We're in constant communication with the Florida athletic department concerning Saturday's game scheduled for 11CST...

"it does not look good or likely the the game will be played in Gainsville this weekend...UF has requested to wait until tomorrow to make an official decision....while we support their desire to keep their home game at home, LSU has began preparations to host the game in the Tiger Stadium"

"the bottom line is we can not make flight arrangements into Florida on Friday when the governor of Florida is making the call for state wide evacuations."

"with that said, LSU is ready to play the game this weekend anywhere it's possible, but we're not going to endanger our program, our players and coaches and fans by flying into a Category 3 or 4 storm with major flooding likely.

"We'll play the game on Sunday if necessary, LSU is not going to cancel the game...or forfeit the game due to many options that have been provided, all responsibility at this time is on UF to "make the right call for all interests involved"

"Have a great day!"

Many Floridians have never seen a hurricane and if the Gov mandates evacuation, what are they going to say if the UF still plans on playing a football game. Lives endangered, did they not see Katrina when people said they weren't leaving until it was too late. Who will the population of FL blame?
