again, i think reporters were taking what Jay said out of context. In game or not, Evans and Schmidt are both throwing bullpen sessions this week. They were never just not throwing this week. Evans is throwing his bullpen session in tonight's game.
Again, I may be thinking it wrong, just curious I guess.

Whoever the producer is for these games either doesn’t know baseball or is lazy as shite. Probably a combination of both. If it’s Haldane, that would make sense. It’s not hard to press the button and get the correct camera shot.

I think the idea was that they were not going to start him. His throwing pitches in an actual game with a limited pitch count is probably a really good way to help build up his pitching stamina and control. Considering how long he was out for, it makes sense to me.
