Best advice.....wear something that shows you are here for a bucket list trip. Wear your Iowa gear. Don't be afraid to walk up to tailgates, introduce yourself, and tell folks why you are here. You'll be treated like royalty.

This.

I live in Iowa now, so I get how it can be intimidating. Tailgating at LSU is a lot more open than the Midwest, don’t be shy about walking up to a fun looking tailgate, ask what they are cooking and chat about the trip. You’ll get food, drinks, and more advice for having fun on campus.

Have fun

If you want more specific advice about anything, drop your email and I can send more

You picked a bad one to come too. Fans are more pissed off than a guy who comes home early and finds his wife of 20 years in bed with his best friend. There will likely be significant fan violence. Just stay out of it.

I would highly suggest you wear an LSU hat or something with white Iowa shirt. (Normally you could wear whatever you want and people would like you more but this is a blood feud now. )

And do not even think of packing anything red. Think of it like you are going to be in ring with a bull and if he sees red he will charge.

Watch the white video and the one where bama player break collarbone of Tennessee player etc so you can at least talk about it. Just agree with LSU fans tell everyone Iowa fans would be pissed too and even in big ten you would not let Ohio State or Michigan grads officiate games etc, and everyone will love you and you will eat like or a king.

If they are selling any freedevonwhite pins or something you can get that instead of a LSU gear and even be better

Crawfish is out of season so you won’t be getting any of that but there’s still plenty of good food to be had.

Go to Chimes Friday night because Saturday you won’t want to wait 2 to 3 hours for a table. Wear an Iowa hat or something as a conversation starter. Tell everyone yalls story and they’ll invite you in for drinks and food at their tailgate. You’ll want to see mike the tiger at the habitat it’ll get very packed close to kickoff so I’d do that early in the day Saturday or Friday if possible. Uber will be best bet but it’ll be expensive on gameday FYI. I actually like Iowa especially with the new wave tradition y’all have. It’s very classy.

Enjoy and GEAUX TIGERS!!

If you’re looking for great BBQ, lower your standards. Louisiana isn’t the place for first class bbq. It’s mediocre. If I were y’all I’d focus on trying boudin, etoufee, gumbo, Po boys etc.

Like others have said, Parrains for seafood, chimes or Pastime for gameday type. Stay away from walk-ons unless you just want “the experience”. The food sucks there.

Park off river road in one of the free lots and walk around campus. If you’re drunk or not a complete introvert you’ll find some people to tailgate with.

Weather should be great, but I would bring a light jacket if it gets chilly.

I’ve had a lot of bbq and TJ’s back back ribs are up there with the best I’ve ever had.

Thanks everyone.

If there are specific tips and anyone wants to reach out to host us, we will be packing plenty of beer and are happy to chip in for tailgating supplies.

LSU shirt w/ Iowa hat. Don't mention Drew Tate's name once your airplane enters Louisiana airspace. Trust me.

Eat at Mansur's Friday. Get the chargrilled oysters.

Pay attention to this next part!!!!!

You are staying close enough to walk to campus on Saturday. On Friday night, park your rental car on the street (back into the spot) in front of the Agricultural Center on South Stadium Drive. Uber back to the hotel or where ever you are going Friday night. Parking on Friday will make getting back to the hotel a breeze after the game. You won't find any good parking on Saturday. I live near S. Acadian/Perkins and this is what I have done for over 20 years. It works every time.

Walk or Uber to campus early (it is less than 3 miles). Wear your Hawkeye gear, and get some free food and drink from people's tailgates after telling them how bad the targeting call was on Devin White.

Enjoy the game. After the game, walk to your car in front of the Ag Center and it is an easy drive to the hotel.

Sunday - brunch at Parrain's. Parking is sometimes a challenge. You can walk from your hotel - maybe half a mile.

Sunday afternoon - ???

I would not set up a tailgate. Just get to campus and walk around, plenty of food and booze everywhere

We are staying at the Radisson Hotel on S Acadian Thruway.

TJ Ribs is a BBQ spot right across the street from where you are staying. It's not the world's best BBQ by any means, but it's not bad. It does, however, have a ton of LSU memorabilia in the place: 1959 Heisman trophy, basketball rim that Shaq tore down in a game at LSU, etc. They also do a cochon de lait most nights -- that is, they roast a whole pig over a bed of charcoal right inside the restaurant.

You guys picked a great weekend as the city will be hopping. I suspect College Game Day will be on campus, along with other national radio shows. (Most will broadcast from Walk-On's bar/restaurant near the stadium)

Wear some Iowa gear and tell people at tailgates why you are in town. They will be more than happy and proud to give you all the food and drink you want -- but pace yourself, it will be a long day with a ton of booze

Absolutely Good advice here. I highly recommend you do this.

I also recommend you go eat/drink at Chimes Friday night, but go earlier ... like 5-7pm... it’ll be crazy busy post 7pm

I will not be bringing and OL recruits, those are for us, until a bag of cash mysteriously shows up on their porch with a script A on it.

I should mention that we are going to try to hit the bars after the game too. Is that just a mistake? We are only 28 so will be aged out of the college ones but if there are any tips on ones to hit that'd be great too.

It would be a real shame if someone posted this link:

Tate to Holloway.

You guys have gotten us more recently though, 2014 Outback bowl. 21-14 but it was not that close, we were clearly outmatched.

Crawfish are not good this time of year. Go for raw oysters at Roux 61.
