Four old married guys, picked this trip preseason. Staying in Batesville Friday and Saturday nights. First time to the area; anything particularly noteworthy to see or do, restaurants, etc pre- and postgame? Go Tigers.

Visit the Grove. One of the great college football scenes.

If you want some Popeye's or a little finger sammich, head on over to the Grove. They'll be fully stocked

Meh. It's overrated. It's a nice setting and definitely a box to check off, but it's nothing special.

Go hit The Square Friday night. And Sunday, check out Big Bad Breakfast before you get on the road.

Meh. Did the Grove, checked the box. It’s underwhelming. Was legit surprised at how small the area is. The Square has a few bars and restaurants. That’s about it for Oxford.

Friday night,

go to the Square and wander around a bit, there are a few decent restaurants/bars in the area...don't be surprised about cover charges to get in to some places...

have a designated driver, Oxford PD loves to pick up DUIs...

Saturday,

Parking can be a problem, you won't be allowed on campus without a parking pass...you might want to look at parking in one of the church lots on Jackson St.

Go to the Grove, it's worth seeing, particularly with the hot grandmother, mother, and soristute daughters at the tailgates...

I haven’t been in a few years but every time I’ve been, the campus police were huge dicks about “open containers”. Apparently you can walk around with a Yeti cup full of straight bourbon but if you have a beer in a can or bottle they will make you pour it out.

No open flame in the Grove, so if you like catered food then go ham. Stadium is small but not a bad seat in the house for the most part.

Brand new strip club opened up in April called Sorority Row. Not sure if or even ANY of these bitches actually go to school but ALL claim to (guess it’s their shtick). One things for certain, each and every one is incredibly rippin hot and not a one appears to be over 30. All claim to be anywhere from 18-25. Trust me it’s worth the $500-$5000 you will drop there.

Haven't been since 2013 so I might be dated.

We used to do Memphis Friday night, then Oxford Saturday.

Go to ajax diner for a meal. Walk around the grove, see the game, get out.

No artificial music, no open containers, food in chafing dishes, everyone in nice clothes. The Grove is a glorified baby shower.

Spent some time in Oxford, it's a great city. If you're looking for dinner Saturday and/or Friday night, you'll want to go ahead and try to make a reservation ahead of time. City Grocery and McEwens are both great for a higher end meal. City Grocery also has a great bar upstairs with a balcony that is small, but great if you can get seats. The indoor bar is a lot of fun too. As someone mentioned above, Ajax is one of the better spots to go in the area for good, southern food. The meatloaf, chicken fried steak, and chicken and dumplings are all excellent. For game day, the square is fun to start out and walk around at, but you'll want to get to the grove early with it being a 2:30 kick. Afterwards, the Library is the "big" bar where most college students will go. It will be very crowded, and cover will likely be $100 by the time the game is over. There's a new outdoor venue by a place called Harrison's (used to be Frank and Marley's) that can be a good time. The bar scene isn't much unless you're a college student, but Boure and City Grocery are both usually older crowds, and both have good balconies and drinks. Can't go wrong, enjoy!

It’ll be fun because they think they are going to whip our arse this year. They are always peppery like little banty roosters. I think the Grove will be riled up. The campus has a strong rural feeling as you’re driving into Oxford. It’s a good time but not my favorite. Lot of pretentiousness. If you want to piss them off tell them that TS is better than the grove and that you are better than them.
