be prepared to see all the jokes in real life and realize they are not exaggerating…

CS is a very plain city and campus just sorta exist …

I would go also but I think I need to give my dog a bath or something else more enjoyable.

Koppe Bridge on wellborn for a burger.

Want to kill time go walk around Zachary engineering building. Impressive set up.

Walk around Aggie park by the stadium. Place wasn’t even there 4 years ago. Impressive that they added that right outside the stadium.

Dixie Chicken early, it will get packed. The Aggie tradition is to stand during the game so if there are any in front of you don’t plan to sit.

Outside of their obvious weirdness they are generally a welcoming fanbase.

ETA: if the Mitchell Physics building is open the Foucault pendulum is pretty cool, especially if you are traveling with kids.

I think its pretty blah as a college town. Dixie Chicken way overrated if you ask me. It is nice and clean and sterile though if you like that. Plenty of weird dudes in costume and some swaying and martial tunes. Will admit the hotel that overlooks Kyle Field is an interesting place to stay (that's an impossibility I'm sure unless you booked that waaay in advance). There are some good Taco joints in town (can't remember names) BBQ is a tough find - hours open not great, good ones not open at night, regional chain ones not worth the stop.

Fwiw
When I would go to CS for business with Aggie staff I always stayed in Bryan.. I like the la sall… hotel.. just cause I liked the old feel.. I was not there to party.. just business and liked the after work feel for that area.
Been a while.. not sure what it is like now?

Hit up the Dixie Chicken. It’s still a great bar, despite being in Aggieland. You could learn to play 42 and whip their arse at that game too!

Dixie Chicken is very overrated.

RX pizza is amazing.

Koppe Bridge is okayish, but Grub Burger and Burger Mojo are better. Get the Goat burger from burger mojo.

Fuego is good but don’t eat too much of it.

Layne’s doesn’t hold a candle to Cane’s so don’t waste your time. Chicken Express is better than Layne’s but that ain’t saying much.

If you want to venture off the beaten path, Top of the Hill Greasy Burgers in Bryan is a hidden gem.

Go to HEB for their made-in-house tortillas.

BCS isn’t as bland and boring as people make it seem, but it also isn’t as amazing as Aggies think it is. Source: lived here in BCS for a while.

I used to live pretty close to that one when I coached in College Station. I will be there early before the crowd and hang out at a good friend's house where he has about 7-8 games on at the same time in his man cave (garage) until about 4.

On your way…..stop in Brenham for some Blue Bell

In CS… eat some brisket at Rudy’s
Go to the Bush library

The Aggie union will give you an idea of the history and tradition of the school…..

I think you will enjoy your CS visit…..it is a very nice place.
