Don't go to a steakhouse in N.O. Clancy's was a good rec. It's near Audubon Park, so not near the Quarter or downtown area, though.

Peche in the warehouse district is excellent as is Compere Lapin. Ask this question on the food board. They'll steer you right.

Try to get tickets lower bowl south end zone or southwest end zone. It’s shaded if it’s a day game.

Don't dismiss staying in BR Friday. Ask for restaurant recommendations in either city on the food board and most importantly, bump this thread Sunday night when you wake up.

Word. If you like Italian food, Gino’s is the best Italian I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a lot. Their family immigrated from Sicily and Mama Marino cooked in the restaurant kitchen into her 90’s!

Ya I would stay in BR Friday. There’s a ton of really outstanding food in BR and the town will be buzzing. Get to campus Saturday as soon as you wake up.

But seriously, wear your gear. Walk around a lot. Maybe avoid the parade grounds as that’s where a lot of students are and 18-22 year olds can be assholes.

New Orleans has what would be considered 5 star restaurants elsewhere, all over the damn place and BR, while not Nola, isn’t half bad either.

I don't know how much time you have, but the Saints play the Ravens on Monday night at the end of that weekend.

Getting a room in BR for Bama weekend is almost impossible and/or triple the going rate anyway, so I would definitely stay in NO. Sleep in Sunday, Cafe du Monde or Mothers for a late breakfast, hit the Quarter Sunday afternoon (best time to enjoy the Quarter imo), do the WW II museum Monday morning and start drinking at noon for MNF. Prime time Saints games are awesome.

Let me know if you need tickets in the south end zone. Stubhub is overpriced. Hope you have a great trip.

You MUST wear your Ohio State gear! Seriously you will get more food and drinks and tailgate invites that way.

This. And if you're some crazy fan that has the Burrow Ohio State jersey, double bonus sympathy points for you, which means extra shots

Unless it has fallen off, Dickie Brennan's steakhouse is very good. Also, Mr. B's is right across the street.

Carousel Bar at the Monteleone is a must.

You and you’re wife definitely should wear your Ohio State gear. LSU tailgates love hosting other team fans, as long as they aren’t the opponents that day. You will have a much better experience if LSU fans know you’re there just for the atmosphere. They will want to be sure you enjoy the trip.

Staying in New Orleans the night before can be a good time. Enjoy some good food, definitely hit Cafe Du Monde while you're there. Enjoy bourbon street some with your wife, but be careful -- it's easy to get carried away on bourbon and have a wicked hangover the next morning. This will be especially rough because you'll want to wake up and get to Baton Rouge early. Parking can be a pain on gameday. As others have said, wear some OSU gear, tell any adults at a tailgate (meaning not the frat dudes on the parade grounds) that you're hear to check out the LSU experience and that you're rooting for the tigers. You'll be given as much food and alcohol as you can handle by these strangers. Make sure you leave the tailgate in time to catch the team and the band coming down victory hill. Swing by Mike's habitat to see the tiger as well. Also just a fair warning, we're expecting something of a down year. If 'Bama is kicking the shite out of us the stadium may be empty by halftime. Overall, have fun you guys!!

I'm an Ohio State fan, but more importantly, a college football fan. I think LSU has the best home experience out there.

This has now been well over 10 years ago, probably closer to 20, but we had a Columbus, OH, transplant down here whose undergrad was tOSU and he did some graduate work at LSU. He was a big CFB fan and, while maintaining his homerism (in particular, tOSU-Michigan series), admitted that in his experience, at least a dozen stadiums (ND, the Big House, the Swamp, FSU, etc.) that tOSU and LSU were #1 and #2 home crowds by a significant margin.
