Has 3 games where he needs to pad his stats.. once sec play starts it’s going to be hard putting up 400 plus yards a game and 3-4 TDs

The early season favorites usually flame out anyway. I think people have unrealistic expectations for the favorites, and then get down on them when they don't live up to it.

The media darling will be Hurts because of the comeback story, but would suck to have another OU QB. I don't think voters from other markets are going to let that happen.

Trever and tua have the name recognition, but Burrow could be the surprise guy if LSU continues to roll, similar to how Lamar Jackson came out of nowhere. Also Burrow has a good story. If LSU wins the SEC or makes the playoff, Burrow is going to be in New York for the ceremony.

Id love to see a playoff of Burrow vs Ohio state and Hurts vs Alabama. Transfers vs their old schools.

The good news is despite Finebaum hating LSU and therefore hating Burrow the rest of the media loves Burrow. Especially national media types like Herbstreit. Burrow's association with OSU helps a lot in regards to media attention. Just keep putting up Heisman type numbers. The rest of the media will drown out Finebaum if Burrow continues on his current trajectory.

Exactly! Charles Woodson won the heisman over Peyton Manning because of the media hype. It is 100% about who the media wants to win it. They even gave it to Derrick Henry over Fournette based on 1 game, when Henry had several shitty games that year

I'd rather LSU vs Michigan where I think Joe would have max motivation. I don't think Michigan is capable of pulling that off, but I'd love to see that matchup.

It will play itself out. If Burrow keeps playing well, we’ll keep winning. If Burrow keeps playing well and we keep winning, we’ll remain squarely in the playoff talk and Burrow will remain squarely in the Heisman talk.

This made me think of Burrow's comment after the Manning passing academy when he said he realized he could throw it with Lawrence and Tua. He's definitely showing it.

Finebaum is a narrative guy. You don’t go to Finebaum for insight and analysis , you go there for the Bama-centric conventional wisdom.

I’m pissed I couldn’t find odds for burrow while I was in Vegas for the opener. Was willing to make a stupid bet on him.

Finebaum’s an Alabama Homer.

Fact is, Burrow is #2 at present in Heisman race behind Jalen Hurts of Okla ...

Here’s Jalen’s problem ... OK #56 SOS
Joe Burrow ... LSU #7 SOS

Joe keeps winning and it’s his Heisman

That is clearly a factor. If he still leads and LSU is undefeated going to gumpland, he'll be in the picture. No question.

I think if we get into a shoot out and he makes that last minute drive to win the game on nov. 9th he wins the Heisman hands down. Unfortunately like every year it comes down to that game.

The thing that is going to keep Joe from winning a Heisman is that he likely won’t play in the second half of at least half of the remaining games. We will have such a comfortable lead at halftime the next three games that Joe will be out and Brennan will be in.

And I am completely fine with that. Secure victory and keep Joe healthy. To hell with a “beauty pageant” Heisman trophy.

I don’t care. The Heisman isn’t the trophy I want to see Joe lifting over his head at the end of the season
