I have heard Tenn, UGA, Bama, Miss. St, and Ole Miss's and they suck. The Tenn guy(retired now I believe) would be saying "give him 6" while the kicking team was running on the field to kick the PAT.

Saints announcer is the only one I have heard that is better.

Well, yes, Jim Henderson is top-notch, well educated and articulate. So much of pbp is simple repetition, sometimes it does seem old or staid.

TAF needs to splash some cash to lure Ron Franklin.

"Throws to a man who is WIDE OPEN and he's brought down for a gain of 1."

I never got that shite.

Or "Heres the pitch, SWINGS and it's going oing man it's got some heat, and it's caught by the second baseman."

I'll never forget in 2010 I believe it was the game against Southern Miss went into extra innings and he was PISSED. He was like "I just...I can't believe they can't get any hits in." than when LSU finally won he said "Theres the run and the ball game is over finally!"

I think Hawthorne is great. I dread the day that a change is made. I listen to him when I watch the TV at home and use to wear earphones in the stadium but quit so I could talk to my child during the game. I felt like I should enjot this time more with him than to listen to Jim. I dont think any of the other guys are even close to being as good as him.

I've been kinda tired of Hawthorne since about 1989. Back then he was just cranky and pessimistic, but more often than not could at least tell you the down and distance.

I like his touchdown calls. Outside of that, he is like Verne. There are worse out there, and better.

So how many other teams announcers have you heard?

I have lived in 7 states in past 24 years and IMO JH is past his prime, at his best he was solid fb guy, never good at baseball and bball imo..I do not even mind the occasinal mistakes (messing up names would happen to anyone), it is his attitude..so negative and often uninformed...no matter what your feelings on JH, isnt 26 years time for a change????

Hawthorne can be annoying at times. I've listened to him a few times on the way home from work, and that's a 30 minute drive; I'd get home an still not know what the score was.

That said, his voice is
LSU for me, and most of the time that's good enough.

After listening to John ferguson for so many years, everyone would suck. Same with Sid Crocker vs Dan Borne. John and Sid will always be the best unless Ron Franklin takes Jim's place.

This. I don't know anything about those other announcers, but as a kid I remember John Ferguson's voice coming over the radio. Nothing says "LSU Football" more to me.

Yeah, me too. John Ferguson will always be my favorite. But did you realize that he didn't do the call on Billy Cannon's Halloween night run? Trivia --- Do you know who did?
