If only the Oline weren’t so afraid of Bama....

It's gotta be in thier heads or the scheme at this point. I refuse to believe our oline is that much worse than UGA and Clemson and auburn, etc. Other schools hold thier own against the Bama DLINE. We seem to hide in our shell.

The Bama game is the one they need to focus on. What can you learn from a game where everything clicked?

Maybe, but I feel like we put too much emphasis on Bama as is.

I think we press and play timid against them.

I wish we would treat them more like every other SEC game.

That's not going to happen though, because we are always going to be hyped for that game.

It really is an unbelievable mental block.

It’s not a mental block. They are playing a bunch of 3/4 stars with a dline made of 5/4 stars. Fairly predictable who will win. Further, they have been matching Kiffen and Sark against Cameron and Ensminger. And Ensminger is being led by Orgeron while those Bama gents are being led by Saban.

Those plays during which our linemen are driven into our own backfield are not mental blocks; they are actual physical blocks.

Yes, exactly. lsu2006 said it perfectly yesterday. There’s a segment here who demand positivity but get upset when people say things like 11–1 no excuses. They don’t want any actual expectation, standard, or accountability. Just be positive.

It’s insane

Yeah, because Bama gets up more for the Citadel then they do LSU.

I agree there is a difference in talent but good lord to the tune where we can barely get 50 yards rushing?

eta. 12 last year.

I still don't know how you could look so good vs UGA and so poor vs Bama.

We have 0 balance vs Bama, and they know it.

Canada seemed to be the only offensive mind we've had over the last how ever many years who was able to make their defense play on their heels.

To be honest I don't. I mean I would like to think so but im not going to lie to myself. Going into Tuscaloosa, I just don't see much of a different outcome then last year

Especially in TS. In T-Town 2017 we actually got the better of their lines for half the game and even in early 4th quarter of the 2015 game a TO deep in their territory gave us some life. Folks forget we were only down by 3 points at Half time in 2013. When have received the worst results it was when we have played at home over the past 8 seasons.

See previous post. If you look at recent and even long term history in the series you should feel more comfortable with our chances in T-Town then at TS.

And there are those who want nothing but negativity (Negatiger trash and Gump imposters) and can't stand it when the HC proves them wrong. They rather fantasize at night on something horrible happening to O or the team tanking so a new HC comes in and they can be proven right. It works both ways. THAT IS INSANE!

I think truthfully, Alabama gets extremely pumped up for the game. They have a very talented team and one of the best coaches to ever do it. Mixing that plus the fact that their team gets so up for the game, it turns into a bloodbath. Once the game between LSU and Bama has turned into such a big deal they have always come out playing like they want to destroy LSU. There have been a few games since 2011 that we have kept it close, but more often than not they just run over us.

So how do you fix it? How do we match intensity? There is not a 29 point difference in talent between LSU and Bama.

It seems like our intensity level's just not as high as theirs on a normal basis, which makes no sense. They take their cupcakes more seriously than we do, then, of course, they're going to take their big games more seriously.

You have to ask yourself how a team can be even more hyped to beat us when they've done it for 8 years straight. They should be trying to match our intensity.

Oh boy. This won’t go over well with a certain segment of this board. They hate the “no excuses” line.

I love Fehoko, but that seems like a lot of wasted motion.

I know a LB that played form Saban in '09.

He basically tells his front 7 every year that LSU is a "contract game"; that dominating LSU gets you into the NFL. He tells them about all of the NFL scouts that will be in attendance, he knows how to motivate his players by pushing their buttons.

This year Saban's probably going churn his secondary and LBs, given all LSU's preseason hype. He'll probably have posters in the defensive meeting room.

It's like he hurts his players feelings and then blames it on LSU.

CEO has to make the game personal for his players.

Wow. That’s sad if true. I’d hate for anyone to be so stubbornly entrenched in their opinions that they just want to be right so badly that they’re incapable of an objective discussion.
