He started to be a ball player. You can feel ok with him but need someone jic the fielding issues continue from where they were.

That’s one mentally tough dude to hold it together at the plate and to be clutch as bad as he was in the field for a while.

I just feel a little better about him now than I did and think he could potentially be a guy that gets better and cleans some things up

I’m okay with a Bianco like role queuing up “crunk ain’t dead” in the dugout

Next year he needs to move to third base. I think he would be better there

I want to see him at 2nd or 3rd. Hoping we bring in an elite SS via portal or recruiting.

Thompson's bat was BETTER this year. The fielding issue was puzzling but I think its something he can get fixed. He has a lot of talent.

The question is if he figured things out and turned a corner for good, or just got hit at the right time. We’ve had plenty of guys catch fire at the end of the year and never returned to that form. Maybe he puts things together next year, but we need plenty of options for the chance of him returning to mid season form.

Time is an issue with him. If he gets the ball quicker and he has to think about the throw. Short may actually be his best position.

Our recruiting class is full already so it would be portal. I’m not sure what happens when you lose recruits to the draft though. Do we have a way to replace the guys that are in this years class but go to mlb? Besides portal?

Nah, Mikey taking his spot. Then hopefully we can not hold our breathe on routine throws to 1st base

I'm not sure Thompson will even be on the team next year. I don't think people realize how big of roster turnover we are going to have.

I agree.
Also i just learned this the other day, did y’all know that he was a team captain? So imo he really showed some grit to stick it out and not fold on him or the team despite struggling soooo bad in the field at one point

Naw dude , bianco isn’t the player Thompson is.
I don’t get some of y’all, do y’all watch all the games? I’ve watched every pitch this year and there’s absolutely no argument for Thompson not being the backup shortstop at worst. I don’t see how you don’t start him somewhere in the infield next season.

I guarantee that if you could find the numbers , he will be towards the top of the team when it comes to hitting with risp while down by 3 runs or less. Most of those to take the lead.

I’ll say it again , Thompson is the most mentally tough batter we’ve got. I thought that to myself and then jj said the same thing in the press conference after the first two games. Then he comes up and does it again with an rbi tonight to cut it to one run
