He’s still bad in the field. He didn’t have any egregious errors, so that’s an improvement, but an LSU SS is supposed to sparkle. That’s just not Thompson. He’ll make a good third baseman next year, though.

Next year he needs to move to third base

He skipped the throw from short all year and you want to move him to third?

I hope Johnson puts in a ton of effort trying to get Maui Ahuna from Kansas in the portal, or the kid from San Francisco, Luke Keaschall.

Ahuna was batting 0.396 in the Big 12 this year and fields the ball really well. Both are in the portal.

Fielding has potential, but his rocket arm is a is a loose canon. He makes a great throw on one play, then doesn't throw within 10 feet of the bag on the next!

His hitting will likely get better over time. Again, he is inconsistent, swinging at bad pitches, then taking a strike down the middle. Doesn't handle sliders or curveballs well!
Definitely has power when he makes contact.

I just have a hard time thinking that we get Mikey Romero to come here instead of going to the minors after he’s drafted pretty early.

Even if he does come, he would be a freshman trying to beat out an upper classman that has a whole off season to get his footwork cleaned up .

We have a great SS coming in next year. He also pitches and has a heavy bat. Let’s see if JJ uses him at all.

NIL might make college baseball more appealing than minor league ball now.
