He's working on a 2ndary and tertiary pitch (change and curveball).

That's why I take some of what is going on with these scrimmages with a grain of salt. Unless you are in meetings with Wes, you don't know what the pitchers are working on when they get mound time.

Same with hitters in that regard.

But will definitely interesting to see who DHs opening night if Skenes is starting. If it’s Dugas or White, Guidry could get the start at 2B or 3B.

I think this, along with RF, have to be factored into the equation when talking about who’s starting in the IF. The question isn’t just about Guidry earning a starting spot. It’s also about Kling, Jobert, Ruddell, etc. earning the 3rd OF spot and/or the DH role when Skenes is pitching. I suspect that whoever doesn’t earn the starting spot at SS between Thompson and Guidry will share time at 2B with Dugas while Dugas moves around between 2B, RF, DH and 3B. If no one claims the 3rd OF spot with authority, Dugas could see more time in the OF than 2B.

Any reason Noot hasn't pitched yet? Maybe I missed something is he hurt? I hope not!

Noot was dressed out and in the dugout Sunday. I did't see him take part in any onfield activities.

Leah Vann reported last week that it would be a couple more weeks before he sees action based on training schedules.

Help me understand here but these batting averages are poor overall. Several around 250.

Since I'm the only one up - I'll just say we have VERY good pitching, and SLUGGING percentage is what you should look at.

I'll defer to our Tiger Baseball Experts for more commentary.

It’s good pitching! You don’t want to see your offense hitting .350 with 39 HRs in Fall Scrimmage cause that means you’re pitching is trash

Pitchers are throwing heat. Not a lot of teams are gonna run out this much velo in October.

Pitchers know the the hitters very well. When it comes down to it, the pitchers are working on things...but they want to win the at bats, so they will go to the well.

Still a fairly small sample size. You have some outliers at the top, and some outliers at the bottom...and really some outliers in the middle that will be at the top.

I don't think this team is going to set any records for average. They're going to walk and extra base hit you to death. They'll have games and streaks of lighting up the hit column, but I think they will overall be more of a team that walks, hits doubles and home runs with a good bit of strikeouts and deep fly outs in between.

Good pitching and small sample size. The average will change drastically with someone having a good day. Say 2-3. That will change someone avg big time at this point. Not much to take from that.

Like the other poster said, slugging percentage would be good to see but I never had the time to create the formulas in my spreadsheet for that. I'd really like to have the OPS in there for better reference on the players. Might be able to get some formulas in there eventually to tackle that.

All in all, I think with these stats the team shows that it is pretty balanced. Pitching and hitting stats are both pretty good. Will have a better idea of the overall team once they play the exhibition games in a couple weeks against other teams.

I forgot who it was and was too lazy to go back and look.

Credit for the slugging percentage comment to you. I agree with it and with the way this team is built OPS stat will tell how well this team is doing.

It is very nice for locals with the free time to drive over to the box and watch these kids.

Love how laid back and relaxing fall baseball is.

I trust Tommy White at 3rd, but just during the one scrimmage I attended he completely missed an infield pop up and let a grounder roll right past him into LF.

1 there are much better ways to measure productivity

2 they are batting every player. Most of these guys on the bottom will be reserves. The starting 9 is basically set with proven guys that have played at a high level in college.

What’s the deal with Money?

He can hit 95 regularly. He doesn’t walk a ton of batters. Maybe his off-speed stuff is below average, but his results don’t match his capabilities.

It seems your average SEC pitcher with his velo has far better than 9.0 ERA. Is he just easy to see?
