That will stop that crap.

If they are truly hurt the they really need to sit out anyway.

They have to sit out one play right now. For the sake of player safety (wink, wink) a player who has to leave the field off of an injury time-out cannot return the rest of this offensive possession nor the next offensive possession.

If the injury causes a stoppage in play, then they must sit out a minimum of 4 plays.

If it goes into the next game…it must be a minimum of ten total plays to sit out.

In this manner, the officials simply stop play for an injury, fake or not.

The correct answer is you have to sit out the rest of the drive or at least more than just one play.

All on-field injuries should also be reviewed after the game by the NCAA (or conference) and if any appear to be fake - like many of the ones last weekend from Ole Miss - the coach gets fined.

I have literally seen that happen - disgusting - all hell should come down on the coaches that allow this - and fired if they command it.

and the firing should negate any provisions of any contract they have

If a player goes down he has to sit out the remainder of the drive. No review.

Simple solution

Player can't enter game again until change of possession.

OK, so you are going to review to see if they are legitimately hurt? How is this even possible?

They’ll just become more creative with the faking and make it seem more authentic.

Yeah, let’s penalize someone for an injuries that “appears” to be fake.

Yes, that is what this entire thread is advocating for. Obviously if it were a flag, it would only be implemented in obvious cases.

BUT this is also why most are simply advocating for the rule to be that if you stop the pace of play via injury that you can't return until the next drive.

You don't prove anything imo. If you come out with cramps, you are out the remainder of the drive while the medical staff hydrates you.

No one is going to fire a coach for trying to help their team within the rules. Right now there are no injury rules so a coach would be dumb not to have a player lay down if the offense is going super fast.

Honestly LSU was really dumb not to do this multiple times against OM and it definitely cost us.

Now as a spectator I hate it and want a rule that makes any player that goes out with injury to have to sit the remainder of the drive. But as the rules stand now, any coach not using this tactic to slow down hurry up offenses is doing his team a disservice.

Nobody is proving anything. You go down well after the whistle (especially after running 40 yards down field and standing at the LOS for 5 seconds), it's a flag.

That's a tough because it's hard to know when a guy is hurt and when he's strategically flopping. But when a guy looks to the sideline and then sort of just sits down, that's a good place to start.

In an NFL game last year, Damar Hamlin stood up and collapsed, having to be administered CPR and taken off the field. Football can be a violent game and we should realize that a person's wellbeing is of a higher level than the game. Possible case in point: Greg Brooks is playing and suffers a hit and has to kneel--sometimes health issues we never diagnosed can creep up on a person and then be triggered by some seemingly miniscule event. Sometimes we don't see the big picture because we don't have God-sized eyes. I personally would rather see care and prayer rule as long as there is honesty, something we seemingly have lost in these latter days.

Sounds good but not practical and opens a huge can of worms

I didnt wamna risk hurting my team so i played through it and injuried myself worse. Boom lawsuit

It should, at least, burn a timeout when you have to stop action for an injured player. Didnt Saturday for some reason

Didn’t the Buffalo Bill guy stand up and take a step before collapsing?

LSU has used it also. I remember Matt Flynn at Bama one year- VERY flagrant

this is the right answer. Make the "injured" player sit for a period of time or for a specific number of plays.

Also, don't let the teams use the injury timeout as their own timeout. If a team is out of timeouts, it's give them a free one, which shouldn't be allowed. Make the players stay between the hashes and don't allow a coach to communicate with them until the injured player is off the field and the game resumes.

Also, if the team of the injured player benefits from a clock stoppage for the injury, there should either be a runoff of time, or the team would have to burn a timeout.
