Think back to 2008 when Mike Slive, commissioner of the SEC, proposed a plus 1 championship. as i recall the rest of the conferences vetoed that idea. Blame your conference.

That is called not giving Alabama bulletin board material.
Miles is a genius,

Wrong. The purpose of the BCS was/is to put the two best teams into a championship game.

no its not.. its to put the #1 and #2 ranked teams in a game together..

No, the purpose is to make money. Ratings = $$.

This isn't that hard to understand. I live in the Houston area. Lots of non SEC fans here aren't happy about the matchup - but that doesn't mean they won't watch the game.

This is pretty simple. ESPN started pimping Bama for a rematch 5 seconds after our FG went through the uprights in OT. They never stopped or wavered. ESPN worked for it and got what they wanted - A rematch. Now they're trying to get TR the Heisman too, but that's looking iffy.

I hear where you're coming from, but we all know whether they admit or are honest with the Nielsen people CFB fans will watch this game.

Still whereas I still think their is some validity to conference championships getting some extra credentials (I for one am THRILLED that LSU is the 2011 SEC Champion) if you take a deep breath Alabama probably is better than Oklahoma State. If you maintain Okie State is better, fine. At the very least Alabama is head and shoulders above two other team who played in the designated title game without winning their conference (ironically both from Okie State's Big 12),Nebraska and Oklahoma.

This is just an unusual year as was 2007 with LSU getting in with 2 losses.Oklahoma State KNEW they had to run the table. The unbiased computers would only do so much. Its life. Honestly another team that's kicking themselves as to be Boise State.Had they won out this may have very well been the year the voters said,'screw it,lets see what they can do.'

BTW, Oregon and Stanford have tremendous teams. That's not any patronizing on my part. They really do. If there was a playoff, they both certainly would have been capable to have won a game vs anyone on a given Saturday.

An auto entry for a team that beats everybody on their schedule. UHHHHHhhhhh, I think that's called sports.

This Exactly
Bama was literally back in the big game with 2 weeks left to play in the season. Thats disrespectful to LSU and the rest of the country IMO.

ALso Andy staple little rant about all this being the fault of the Big 12 is more SPIN.
Its all true but if you listen to it and read the BCS's own website you will realize what ESPN is actually saying. "Dont blame us that the system can and was manipulated to keep bama @#2"

If I wasn't an SEC fan I would be pissed also. It must get tiring watching the same conference dominate year after year. I am sure the other conferences despise the SEC.

Not reading every post.

Les is not being a hypocrite, rather, being politically correct.

I'm sure he didn't vote for BAMA. He's too much of a gentleman to say to the media that Nick and his Nicklets are a bunch of undeserving pricks.

well, while ESPN did pimp Alabama they have had other favorites over the years, too. Don't forget how hard they went out of their way to minimize LSU's worthiness in the 2003 title game. So what if LSU was #2 in every poll (yea,I know the BCS has been 1 vs 2)ESPN/ABC couldn't get over their precious Southern Cal being left out.So what if Oklahoma was smoked 35-7 in their title game,"why is LSU in the title game?"

And what John Saunders did in 1997 pumping Charles Woodson over Peyton Manning was just shameful.Shoddy 'journalism' or 'professionalism' at its worst.

Regardless, I really myself hope it is Bama-LSU for Title, as I hope it will blow up the corrupt BCS and from what I am hearing, there is much furious anger about a SEC vs SEC title game....

I never felt anyone was discounting LSU making the title game in 03. Seemed to me the consensus thought USC should have been playing LSU.

If the rest of the country was as good as LSU and Bama then you would have an arguement. Anyone who doesn't realize that these are the 2 best teams in the entire country this year either doesn't know football or is in denial.

I do not dispute that if AL was to play OK St, they are likely to win...
but we do not know 100% unless such game is played.

if we look at their body of work, actually OK St has a better resume.

so the question is, do we go with what we think, or we let the numbers speak ?

Personally, I could care less in theory, except I would have liked to see Ms Nicky cry and have to live with the loss without the chance at redemption.

maybe, maybe not. Regardless in 2003 there was so much crying for Southern Cal the Sugar Bowl was just an afterthought by many with ABC/ESPN.

ITS YOUR **** arse PAC12 and the Big10's fault we don't have a f*cking playoff.

While you're boycotting the BCSCG the people who aren't idiots about college football are going to boycott the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl has single handedly destroyed college football for 64 years now. Go pick up a book and read it you Duck POS.
