Recently Les Miles has changed tunes and become a hypocrite in saying he would welcome facing Bama again for the title in a rematch. He has lost a lot of respect from many who remember him saying that maxim but now being a hypocrite...
Wow, that's just freaking dumb.

If the rest of the country was as good as LSU and Bama then you would have an arguement. Anyone who doesn't realize that these are the 2 best teams in the entire country this year either doesn't know football or is in denial.
Fact is we as fans NEED a playoff to at least give us the appearance of parity in the FBS. At least with a playoff, some not-so-great team will occasionally have a great game and catch a normally dominant (SEC) team sleepwalking. Then it at *looks* like there's some even division of talent for the sport. This one game for all the marble business is getting pretty boring. I'm the first to admit that football playoffs are a pretty terrible barometer for deciding the "best" team...but college football is now akin to figure skating. Having people decide who is best based on what they "think" is even more dumb and a lot more borning.

Didn't the human vote put Bama in this game? Wouldn't that mean people wanted to see this heavy weight re-match?

FACT: People who live in CONNECTICUT are more responsible for this matchup than people living in the deep south. Act like you have a clue and it may not come off like you're just a whiner.

We don't give a shite!
Have fun watching your team play for nothing.

Be sure to come back and tell us what you think about the game.

Didn't make it to ATL. Lots of glitches.
I don't recall if I saw your response or not.
But thanks!

Miles is far from a hypocrite. We earned our way to the title game, what is he supposed to do complain about the opponent? What an utterly stupid line of thinking. We don't control who we play, our coach is not going to lobby for other teams.
Don't blame us man.
Don't blame us man.

I think that iti's conceivable that ratings for the bcs title game will be lower than expected since the game is a rematch and the fact that LSU and Alabama do not represent large markets and that the bcs title game is not like the Superbowl in national hype. I mean across the country there are not bcs title game parties and it's not nearly as hyped.
But that doesnt' demean the accomplishments of the winner and the SEC.

I feel bad for LSU fans having this great year and title game and the whole country will not tune in to watch it.
Honestly, I would even be happier if they played the game in my backyard and I was the only one watching.

quote:with college football, unlike the NFL, it is not about large market teams (Rutgers? Cal?) but more about the marquee value of powerhouse programs. LSU-Bama fits that bill to a T.

FACT: outside the SEC the known nation is OK with shitty Defense. This is is just another example of the pussification of America.

ALso Andy staple little rant about all this being the fault of the Big 12 is more SPIN.
Its all true but if you listen to it and read the BCS's own website you will realize what ESPN is actually saying. "Dont blame us that the system can and was manipulated to keep bama @#2"
Andy Staple's late mother was a Bama grad and big fan. Coincidence?

BTW, not "people at large" Coaches and Writers...
look at the actual voting record and it is really clear as to who wanted what and possibly why.

I thought the first game was great, but
like it or not,
Offense is more exciting than Defense.

Forget the rest of the country! I'll be watching and cheering hard for LSU here in Charlotte.

How freaking stupid can y'all be? What else is he supposed to say? He knew there was a good chance he'd be playing Alabama no matter what he said. It would be insane for him to go on record basically saying he didn't want to play them.

You made some good points until this. A tough defensive 9-6 overtime game is not a snooze-fest. A snooze fest is a 10-2 and 6-6 team going through the motions in a pathetic "conference championship" game.

Imagine for a moment Oregon and Stanford being voted to play for the title. How would you all feel if that occurred?
If they were the best two teams, I'd be OK with it. There were no SEC teams in the NC games in 1999 through 2001, and again in 2002 and 2005. I didn't have a problem with that. I did have a problem with 2004, but that's another issue.

I doubt that blog editors can do much to control whether people watch the game, but if a lot of people don't, that's fine with me. It's what ESPN deserves. They clearly campaigned for this matchup, presumably because they wanted ratings. I'd love for this blatant manipulation on their part to backfire on them.

no one wants to see SEC vs SEC outside the SEC.
Then someone outside the SEC should beat the SEC teams so they don't end up #1 and #2. Problem solved.

I'm not reading all this and don't know if it's been discussed, probably has, but this is a great article by Dan Wetzel, author of "Death to the BCS"
SEC reaps reward of rejected playoff plan
There’s a sizeable portion of college football lamenting that the BCS championship game will feature a rematch of two teams from the same league – LSU and Alabama of the Southeastern Conference.

Go ahead and be frustrated.
Just don’t blame the SEC.
...If it were up to the SEC, though, it never would’ve happened. At least not without giving teams from two other leagues a chance to prove themselves on the field.
In 2008, commissioner Mike Slive pitched a so-called “plus-one” plan that essentially was a four-team playoff using existing bowl games. Other than the ACC, the other conferences not only summarily rejected the plan, they refused to even discuss its details.
