Agreed. I think they should fix all the windows on the north endzone and then put their attention on the west side before worrying about anything else on the north.

Those slats are designed to block light AND make it look like there is no glass but still allow a view from inside. It is trying to make it monolithic looking with the rest of the structure. They are doing/did the same thing with the new windows on the club level on the Superdome.
It looks a lot nicer than if they just had tinted glass.

I wish the additions would have maintained the same style as the horseshoe part of the stadium which goes with the original architecture of the campus. Maybe they'll consider this when they make the addition to the SEZ, so we'll have the Roman Coliseum look return Tiger Stadium

Cover it with a HUGE MURAL of a Giant Peppa!
Call it Madame Peppa's Corner!
Solution!
Then place a neon of a pulsating and excited NANA!
That will put Da Peppa on notice!!!

LSU might have the ugliest stadium in college football

I will never visit that piece of shite stadium again. If nothing else, we have escalators to reach the upper decks. Function over form.

who cares what it looks like.
1) it is one of the loudest stadiums in the country which is why we build this gigantic stadiums in the first place
2) TS is about tradition, not attractiveness. It is still the original stadium from the very start of the university(1800's maybe, not sure).
3) About the bars in the stadium dorms. These are there because the dorms are contaminated. No one is allowed in those rooms and they are preventing anyone from entering them for very obvious health concerns.
Seriously?? Tiger Stadium is considered by nearly every poll or media writers Top 10 stadiums and is considered to be the best stadium by a lot of those people. LSU is known for TS. It is perfect exactly the way it is.
Yes I wouldn't mind if the exterior was upgraded. But in no way do I think TS is this terrible stadium that is trash. If these really are LSU fans posting this you should feel ashamed for criticizing the one thing that LSU will always be known for and will always be considered the best of the best in.

Not even top 20.
And don't go all "and LSU's is?" on me. I'm not saying that at all.

What else could they have done with it since they left 2 sets of the old ramps in place? What we see is basically the club levels and the elevator shafts of the sideline remodel of a relatively tall stadium.
If you look at Bamas endzone addition, it looks to be a whole new building built from the ground up. Seems like there is so much more you can do with that.

I'm an LSU fan and graduate but let's be honest here, of all the major programs in the SEC I have to rank TS as the ugliest. I'm not including Miss. State, Vandy, Kentucky and Ole Miss because they have high school stadiums in Texas that are bigger than those four schools. Tiger Stadium being the loudest in college football is a thing of the past. I've been to games at Auburn, Bama, Florida, and Tennessee when they were playing the tigers. Those stadiums are just as loud or louder than TS. I don't let bias for my university cloud my opinion. Even though it is a few thousand smaller than TS, Auburn is just as loud or louder. Tiger Stadium is ugly as hell and it was not around in the late 1800's like a previous poster stated. Bama's stadium is great looking. When I attended LSU, Bama's stadium was real small and ugly as hell, hence the home games at Legion Field. Alabama did a terrific job in upgrading BDS. Truth is the TS is ugly and it sure as hell doesn't help with those dorm windows. When I was at LSU the stadium dorms were un airconditioned and occupied. The best place to live in the dorm at TS if that was all you could afford was South Stadium. TS needs an entire exterior make over because whether you agree or not, it's ugly compared to other stadiums in the country.

LSU recently announced plans for fixing up those windows and turning the entire north stadium drive area into a plaza. Looked very nice in the pictures.
With the money crunch, who knows when it will actually happen.
They should completely redo outside of the south endzone though.

It's not really the design itself I have a problem with. I actually like the modern look. I don't see why it has to match the "coliseum" look. If they would have just done a few things differently then it would be awesome...
1)they should have used a different material other than those ugly slates. Maybe a marble like the kind in the entrance of the Cox auditorium. Something good looking at least.
2)designed it so that damn pipe is sticking out.
3)hide all that hideous fire proofing underneath. Maybe cover it with that aluminum looking stuff at the top by the bigger ramps closest to the south endzone.
4)I see the purpose of the shades because the deck faces directly to the west so that's a lot of light coming in which means lots of energy to cool it. But they should have just used tinted windows or at least some shades that look better than the ones now. There's too many and they're way too bunched together, not to mention they look like they're rusted even though that's their natural color.
5)Put iron gates around it instead of the chain link fence. Seriously...that's got to go.
6)Do something with the sidewalk and the stairs leading up to it. That bare concrete is ugly.
7)They could at least pressure wash all that mildew off of the old ramps so that the concrete looks like it matches the rest. (They also need to do this to the athletic admin. building).
If they did all of this then it would be awesome.
I will say though that it does look pretty nice at night. The lighting is badass.

Mildew.
shite pipe exposed on West side.
Chain link fence.
Other than that, it's fine considering its age.

The sidewalks and fencing around Tiger Stadium could definitely be improved. The South Endzone is the ugliest part of Tiger Stadium. If they ever add on there, they could do a nice endzone addition from the ground up like Bama did with theirs.
Posted on 4/8/10 at 8:30 pm to EST
I sure hope they do something nice IF they actually add on. And if the do, I hope they don't actually connect the upper decks like everyone says they're supposedly going to do. I'd prefer a deck separate from the rest, like Bama's. Maybe connect the suites/ club area to both sides but have a deck unconnected from the other two on top.
