Who cares about the Rival rank?
It is skewed towards the Rival owner's favorite team.
It don't matter at all.

Girouard: Cajun past her prime!
Posted by Duward on 4/8/10 at 3:39 pm
PERIOD!
If you think she is motivated, as she was in her Cajunland Alma Mater job, you are dreaming.
She has come here, with LSU Softball ON TOP OF THE SEC.
She beotched, moaned and groaned. She blamed it all on facilities and other excuses.
Yet...she got beat by USL, USL, in recruiting. She let her pitching staff degrade to the point of meltdown. All the while, the facilities did it.
This year she ran a string, on ruptured ducks. When she played Texas, Michigan, North Carolina, Florida and Alabama, SHE LOST THEM ALL!
Now, you cannot expect to beat the best, all the time. But lose them ALL?
Her style is more fit for the 70's, 80's and 90's. To hear her talk, she is in total control.
I don't believe she is up to the best of softball coaches, and I am not sure she WAS, even at her best in Cajunland. She accumulated gaudy stats, when the sport was not at a premium.
A little factoid: When LSU resumed the program under Compton and Moore, they beat the vaunted Madame Peppa, 5 of 7 times. It's almost as if she came here to "stem the tide," and get a decent retirement check. I didn't get that memo, but I surmised as much.
Get a HC that can handle the competition. It is alot about the HC, obviously the recruits want to come to LSU, they come in spite. :nana:

If the swim coach resigned, why do some say he was........
Posted by Duward on 4/7/10 at 3:46 pm
..fired?
Couldn't he have resigned, for having facilities far less than his SEC peers?
Didn't he achieve at a level far higher than his program's stature?
Schmitt was here under Freas, when LSU was at the top of the SEC.
He was a good swimmer and he recruited well, considering his facilities.
Surely, he had far less of an attractive venue than several other "revenue-burners."
Maybe he wasn't fired?
He was not quoted in the Reveille press release. It may be pronounced, but it may not be profound. Maybe he saw the handwriting on the wall?
Were it not for Title IX, I promise you, there are several of those sports that would have BIT THE DUST.
But somebody thinks Schmitt was fired.

OK: LSU Softball plays another ranked team!

So far, we are O-fer!
Our SB HC talks shiite, but its all talk.
I think we have the talent, I actually think we have the pitchers. Does anyone think we do not have the facilities?
If anyone thinks we have a Softball HC to match the tope SEC teams and beyond, THINK AGAIN.
We have a retireee from USL. Nothing more.
If Alleva is doing a sweep, starting with swimming, he needs to start looking hard at the money we pay versus how we are functioning in the SEC.
Women's Tennis! That dude has been hanging around forever, and unless they offer him a job in the athletic department, you are not going to get rid of him, unless he is fired.
Women's golf, you think we are competitive in the SEC? Think again.
Men's tennis has taken a gradual decline since the departure of Jerry Simmons.
We basically have a bunch of coaches, who cannot ever win championships and at least one has been at LSU for over 30 years and has won NOTHING SIGNIFICANT.
I hope Alleve does a sweep alright. Put some folks on their ears. Get young, motivated and competent people. You don't have to maintain "long in the teeth old timers," and you put these new coaches on notice.
That Softball HC is just never going to get back the progrom, where she inherited it. LSU used to win the SEC, regularly. Now, she is being outhustled, outrecruited and outcoached. IMO..she carries on as though she is entitled. She needs to go back to Ulala at USL.
Watch her excuses, after she gets skulldrugged by Alabama.

JJ?
Who's beotching about JJ?
I think people are disappointed with his lack of progress and his lack of understanding for what he is expected to do.
Miles' future, and it is his responsibility, is hingeing on a guy who has proven to be clueless.
JJ does not "get it," and neither does Miles.

I don't care if Miles is on the Hot Seat. His poor work ethic and disorganized management has rendered his achievements, almost irrelevant.
Many LSU fans are VERY distracted by the chaos. I know FOR SURE, I am not just a bit dismayed.
Let him go to Michigan, let NOT the door hit him in the lazy azz.

That Softball HC may have achieved, IN THE PAST, but she is obviously ABOVE HER HEAD with the top SEC programs. LSU is maybe, maybe, 4th. She inherited the SEC's top program. It is one excuse after another.
BTW..she lost to North Carolina. If you start saying the BEAT TEAM X WHO BEAT TEAM Y AND LOST TO TEAM Z, RANKED IN THE TOP 10. Your argument is simply personal. It is not an argument, it is part of the excuse litany, we have come to accept. You get paid, you perform. This is LSU, not USL. :nana:

They did win 24 in a row.
B-b-but it was against the Ruptured Ducks and insignificants of the Softball Scene.
Gaudy stats vs Ruptured Ducks
&
0'fer against ranked teams, that's right, 0-7!!
The Northeastern pitcher was a great "country school pitcher," but in the SEC, she is really not that great.
Girouard is a USL Cajun and until they run her off, she'll keep raking it in at LSU's expense.
Title IX is a reality! Get a f'ing HC who can handle the top teams. We are paying a king's ransom for mediocrity and we have top notch facilities. Don't think we are not really talented, WE ARE, we just have a limited HC. She shot her goodies at USL. She's played out and just cannot compete vs. Alabama/Florida/Tennessee/etc. Besides having the game pass her by, I really do not think she has the required motivation.
Get a coach and get a return on the millions spent on that insignificant sport. For that matter, do the same with all sports. You have to have them? Get somebody who can win, do like Brodhead used to do. Realize that the marketing of successful minor sports, is marketing you CANNOT BUY OR GET OTHERWISE! DAMMIT :banghead:

Yvette Girouard is having a great time at LSU.
That is what, its all about, giving this Cajun Legend a great "retirement coast."
She cannot compete with the top SEC coaches, anymore, and I'm not sure she give a flying ratz azz!
LSU, in all seriousness, would do well to replace her. Hire somebody with great passion, competency, young and LOYAL.
I'm telling yall, she is NOWHERE vested,as she was at here alma mater. That is where her passion remains, and she can tell all her bs stories and convince the elect. I think she is just coasting, and talking shiite. Of course, her gaggle of peanut gallery'ites, eat it up. She has them bamboozled, like Obama and Acorn.

Madame Peppa does not hold a grudge against her "Baby," Cajun Peppa U.
OK?
If anything, she cannot bear to play a school that is her first and only love. PERIOD.
Look, the year her "plaque got allegedly ripped off her ballpark," this alleged grand dame was not able to secure the regional for LSU, despite the fact that LSU was far and away the #1 seed in the South Region. LSU, for crying out loud, had Brittni Sneed, that year. Rumor has it, the "incident," probably orchestrated, Madame Hot P was so emotional, it affected her team. #1 teams are supposed to HOST regionals. Yet, she "quietly," dropped the ball.
Since that "meltdown", and alleged incident, LSU SB has been less-than-consistent.
We have seen YG make excuses and use "facilities," as her mantra.
Now...she has the facilities and she has tripled her USL-Peanut-Salary. She has to put up or stfu.
As for not playing USL, the directional school in stark denial, I'd think it is because she does not want to do battle with her "friends in Lafayette." When YG finally retires, and I would like to see new blood at LSU, she'll saunter back down the Atchalafaya Basin, to enjoy the golden parachute, gilded at LSU's expense.
Playing USL means shiitte! They, Da Kajunz, are the true pioneers of Softball. Madame Poivre Chaud definitely work at SB in LA, early and with dedication. She did it with passion. I contend, that passion is for USL's Cajuns. She'll never admit or fess up, but I firmly believe she has not improved our SB program. She inheritied it, after LSU had dominated USL with a BRAND NEW PROGRAM IN THE SEC. YG's record against Cat Compton (ahem) and Glenn Moore WAS 2 WINS IN 7 GAMES. Actually, she was at a point where she NO LONGER WANTED TO PLAY LSU, so her policy is INTACT??!!??

Van Chancellor and his carousel of assistants: Larkins-Landers
Posted by Duward on 4/3/10 at 11:15 am
Van has a penchant, for hiring Texas female assistants with "hypenated names."
Van also has a penchant for keeping them two years.
Presumably, he hired Broughton-Wells and Larkins-Landers for recruiting purposes. I must say, Broughton-Wells did better than Larkins-Landers, giving both all the credit (deserved or not).
Here is this 67 y/o man, or is it 66?, and he's on his last leg. Then he cannot keep his "recruiting assistants," for more than two years-a-pop. Actually, he kept Broughton-Wells for ONE YEAR.
Van Chancellor was hired to bring back respectability to LSU WBB. He is a very good man and I think his fatherly aura has been very good for LSU. But isn't it about the WBB Program? Maybe not!
There is little or no stability and the rest of the SEC, is quietly pushing us down the peg. I am disappointed. To add to the absolute uncertainty, the administration chose to EXTEND HIS CONTRACT BY TWO YEARS.
VC has zero chance of recruiting, significantly, with all of the uncertainty. Unless the program has a "jam up and jelly tight coaching prospect," with the idea of keeping Bob Starkey in transition and as the chief assistant, I SEE A BAD MOON ARISING IN LSU WBB.
Last year, Ole Sleepy Van's most emotional moment, was his return to "coach a f'ing game in Oxford." By all accounts, that was his most passionate "time." To add to the confoundedness, he lost to Old Urine U, f'ing TWICE.
WHAT A DEAL!
Today, we learn of the impending departure of Larkins-Landers. What impact assistant, would want to come in this situaiton? Unless, that person will serve a COACH IN WAITING??
It may be sketchy, but how about that young lady who..........ohhhhh never mind! The next LSU WBB HC must be a good citizen, AND SHE MUST MATCH THE CULTURE. Competency, PROFESSSIONALISM AND CULTURE! Not a bad criteria huh?
F!!!! All this excellent prose for WBB?? Duward! IS YOU CRAZY? Well it is a holiday for me and I am bored!!!

Miles MAY have somebody write a book for him!
NOBODY would read it.
Yes, I do agree with one of the posters, "HE IS LOOKING TO TURN THE PAGE."
Miles does not like "being watched and micromanaged."
He will not change, he is not a highly motivated LSU FB Coach, his motivations must lie elsewhere.
If that "somewhere," is Michigan, HE SHOULD NOT LET THE P&G DOOR, HIT HIS SORRY AZZ. Frankly, if we know-what-we-know about Miles, Michigan wouldn't touch him with a 10' baton, twirly to the fight song of "MICHIGAN!!!"
Miles' wife, is much more apt to "write a book FOR him," that that lazy sucker would ever contemplate and follow through. Can you imagine the "disorganization," if he actually tried to do it.
He may have a degree from Michigan, WOW, but he is a football coach at LSU. Alot has happened since he got that degree. I don't mean to demean his infirmity or besmirch his character. I DO NOT WANT HIM TO CONTINUE AS FB HC AT LSU. I am clear on that WANT.

I was PROFOUNDLY disappointed!
I could not believe, our AD could make such a choice.
It is not personal, it is just not a good fit for LSU.
He and Dinardo, cut their eyeteeth, under McCarthey at Colorado.
I wanted somebody, outside of the LSU gene pool, so don't get me wrong.
But from casual awareness of Miles' resume, I would have NEVER HIRED HIM AS LSU HC.
Nothing has happened, that convinces me I was wrong.
Miles' demeanor, from the getgo was one of shiftlessness and casualness. He is not wired to lead the LSU Nation. PERIOD!
I thought you would ask: HOW MANY OF YOU WERE DISAPPOINTED WHEN HE DID NOT LEAVE FOR MICHIGAN!
That made me sick too, I could not believe we would be so LUCKY!! At the time, I just did not believe that Michigan could hire him. But blind acorns fall in the lap of blind pigs....
