The slats didn't look bad on the renditions of the stadium, but it didn't translate well.

The problem is, there's a ton that looks shittier and simply different in what they actually threw up versus the renderings...

There's nothing remotely like the steps going up...

"who cares what it looks like"

Here we go. Just like clockwork, anytime a thread about the "Appearance of Tiger Stadium" is started, we're soon to get one of the "Who cares what it looks like"

"it is one of the loudest stadiums in the country which is why we build this gigantic stadiums in the first place"

We're not talking about how "Loud" TS is on the inside, we're talking about how bad it looks on the outside.

"TS is about tradition, not attractiveness"

Total BS. TS can be traditionally loud and not be a freaking run down, neglected eyesore.

"About the bars in the stadium dorms. These are there because the dorms are contaminated. No one is allowed in those rooms and they are preventing anyone from entering them for very obvious health concerns"

Then tear the dorm rooms completely OUT. Yeah, I know about the asbestos. There ARE asbestos removal companies. Rip em out from the inside without touching the outside facade. Tear em completely out, remove ALL the windows and then put "Roman Coliseum" style arches in the now empty spaces where the windows were.

"Seriously?? Tiger Stadium is considered by nearly every poll or media writers Top 10 stadiums and is considered to be the best stadium by a lot of those people. LSU is known for TS. It is perfect exactly the way it is. Yes I wouldn't mind if the exterior was upgraded. But in no way do I think TS is this terrible stadium that is trash. If these really are LSU fans posting this you should feel ashamed for criticizing the one thing that LSU will always be known for and will always be considered the best of the best in."

See no evil and Speak no evil, huh? Once again were criticizing the outside facade, not the atmosphere INSIDE the stadium. All those media polls are about the atmosphere inside, not the physical aesthetics of the stadium. It's a damn shame that this magnificent structure has been allowed (By current S.E.C. standards) to become run down and neglected by the LSUAD. You're no friend of LSU if you really think it's "Perfect" the way it is. Far from it. More power to Alleva for wanting to improve the North side, but that would be like pouring an entire bag of white sugar on a pile of dog shite. The entire exterior, all the way around, needs to be renovated before there is even ANY talk of additional seats.

True. It would look great if it matched the renditions in the pictures posted.

Tear it all down and allow all the Rant architects to design and construct a new stadium.

Tigerbandalumnus,

I see your points, but my point is that I really don't care AT ALL about the aesthetics. Complaining about TS is just like Boston fans complaining about Fenway Park. They are both about the same age(Ts 1924, Fenway 1912), and they both look like crap really. But the crappy looks are what make it what it is. That's just my opinion and I can see what all of yall are saying. One of the best quotes about Fenway that I think relates to TS is that it is like watching a game a century ago. It's a step into the past and shows the history of LSU and TS. Once again, just my opinion but I'm definitely into "historic" things. Wrigley and Fenway are by far my favorite baseball stadiums. TS, Rose Bowl, Notre Dame stadium are some of my favorite college stadiums.

And I definitely agree about the chain link fence.
That stadium costs so much money, we can atleast put a decent gate around the stadium.

And I'm an engineer and honestly some of the things yall are saying really just don't sound feasible. Maybe I'm picturing it wrong, but I just don't think it could happen.

That pipe was leaking what looked to be party gravy at the Florida game. Very unpleasant smell there.

I think Tiger Stadium looks great, needs some improvements, but it is still great. As far as exposed windows...Tuscaloosa doesn't get hit with the same weather Baton Rouge does...is it possible that this was taken into consideration during planning?

I like the white sewage pipe that drops down below the middle section. Talk about professional services from the architectural firm. They didn't even try to hide it with paint.

Bama wins a championship, they put up a statue of the coach. We have 3 coaches that have won it, and their are statues of him where? At the freaking Tiger Arms APartments!

AN APARTMENT COMPLEX HAS MORE ON THE BALL THAN THE LSU MARKETING DEPARTMENT.

LSU is not poor, or bad, but an ABSOLUTE JOKE when it comes to promotions and development ,

FWIW - I think that it's ridiculous to have a Coach "immortalized" while still coaching. It reeks of desperation... like the mental masturbation of a shiny sports car provides those suffering a mid-life crisis. "I still got it... I still got it... See. See my statue?!? Told ya I still got it."

I think that once a coach is well-tenured to the point of "living legend" status (like Bowden at Fla. State) it's a different story. There are very few of those, though....
* JoePa got his statue in 2001 in his 35th year as HC - a full 15 years after his last National Championship.
* A retired Tom Osborne was bronzed on the 10th anniversary of Nebraska's 1995 championship season. Of course the other person featured in that sculpture is the QB who led them to the championship before dying in a plane crash 2 days prior to the draft....

Mack Brown...Pete Carroll...Phillip Fulmer... no statues.

This....

...is the only statue I like representing the last 50 years or so.

Fess up, the whole fricking exterior, north, south, east and west needs to be re-done. The north, the only side with any character, has been allowed to degenerate into a fricking Detroit housing project. It's embarrassing. I'd be willing to put up with terrible in-stadium amenities if they could at least make the outside look good for the cameras.
