Yes, I'm quite aware of the way he handled the budget cut situation. These other things are good, but not enough to justify keeping him.

He sabotaged our Athletic program by preventing Les Miles being fired. Talk about cutting your hands off to spite your face! Our largest source of revenue and he's going to risk it after all his bellyaching about money?

He would be much happier in a land where there are no ignorant people who couldn't possibly understand anything he has to say.

F. King, Aleva and Miles gone this week. Make a statement. Screwed up with that halftime circle jerk during last years A&M game, now make a real statement and save the program now!!!

Regardless of what you perceive as Kings fiscal ingenuity, the way he handled, or allowed, last November to be handled was poor management from a PR perspective.

I actually agree with this. My bigger issue with situation is that the board was so involved. Our board should never decide if a coach stays or goes. That's a recipe for disaster. The board and to a lesser extent, King should've fired Alleva. I think Alleva played that situation horribly from a PR perspective from Day 1.

In short, if the board doesn't like the direction the Athletic program is going, change the Athletic Director.

At a larger scale though, wanting to fire the university President is pretty insane. Fire Miles? Sure. Fire Alleva? Definitely. Fire a guy who is succeeding at his job, with the exception of one of the 21 sports his school participates in? That's a stretch for me.

JP, this is really solid effort. As an alum, I appreciate it. Those of us who are not big money folks with influence can only hope to attempt to influence the media and drive public perception, which in turn, could help to influence those in power.

Thanks man. Gotta stand up and let our voices be heard.

In my personal opinion, a lot of the strides he's made have been operational.

These items were started in 2011 with a very concerted effort by a group of folks( flagship coalition ) and the administration at the time .it took lobbying for laws to change on the procurement side. So that savings could be achieved King has presided over implementing the plan and should be commended for that. But it was not his strategy

Agreed that the boards involvement was also mishandled. I think a lot of people point to the fact that it was such a poorly handled situation only to culminate in "Not in the budget. Can't do it," stance from King, knowing full well the buyout was not appropriated from LSU academic funds.

I agree with you on Aleva but he still reports to King. I'm not necessarily calling for his head but he needs to not meddle if he's going to handle the PR side of it so poorly as a person in charge. You also need to recognize how political King is. The following is something he said about the November debacle:

"“The public at large really doesn’t differentiate where the money comes from,” he says. “No matter how you explain it, it’s still a $15 million to $25 million decision that needs to be factored into the overall equation.”

That's a very brazen statement especially considering what was on the table that wasn't coming out of the academic pocket. He crawfished and while initially saying it was out of support for Les Miles' success he used budgetary concerns to ultimately justify the decision. That statement is also concerning because he comes off pompous, in basically saying general public doesn't understand how money or business works.

He is a PR nightmare, after telling the citizens of this state we were too ignorant to understand the difference between state money and private money. F. King is not and never has been a good fit for LSU.

I want them to fire him. In fact, I want him so busy trying to save his own job, that he doesn't have time to save Les. But if they don't fire him, they better make damn sure HE is no longer ignorant about how all of this works. And, God help him if tries to save Les again!

Going off of upvotes and downvotes, 95% of Tigerdroppings users, a solid cross section of the LSU fan base, want Alexander/Miles gone. If Alexander intervenes this time, he can get fricked.

He also fired 2 professors, which doesn't put you in a good national standing to attract professors and research, and LSU is a tier 1 research institution...

So, frick that academic elitist perspective. LSU will never be Vanderbilt........and most of us don't want it to be.

I don't want LSU to be Vanderbilt. I want it to be competitive with Texas, A&M, UGA, UF, Ohio State, etc. on the academic side.

That's a fight that has to go through the legislature because a complete overhaul of state higher education would need to take place.

if I went to that fricking game wasting all that time and money.

It was still a very enjoyable trip, except for the outcome of the game. It was a great move by LSU to schedule that game at Lambeau.

Of course, there was ample time to reflect on the program and the university on the ride from Green Bay back to Chicago

Same piss poor offense. So, so defense. Miles must go. If Cam is responsible for the play calling then he needs to go also.
