Remember the bridge schedule?
Where Bama was supposed to play UGA and we were supposed to play Vandy, but for reasons that were never explained the games were switched and we ended up with UGA?

Who the frick wants to watch lsu and northwestern state in primetime?
I think it would be interesting to see on which networks the games were broadcast. I'm willing to bet that many of the early Bama games were on ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU while the night LSU games were mostly all on SEC Network, which would mean that Bama has been the victim of its own success.
Putting the non-marquee Bama games on tv when the big time matchups, the primetime ESPN and ABC games, are yet to come on. More national eyes will watch Bama vs. Arkansas State than LSU vs. Southeastern.
Over that span (which I assume is 2014 to this weekend's upcoming games), Bama has played Group of 6 (G6) teams entirely, while LSU has played 6 FCS, 5 G6, and one Power 5 (Syracuse).

f Alabama plays night games for safety, then permanent cross opponents should be done away with for safety
Bama is so full of shite. They practically hold the entire SEC hostage in terms of scheduling in order to preserve their precious "rivalry" game with Tennessee.

Maybe if Bama scheduled better non-conference games they could be viewed primetime

This has nothing to do with SEC games. Those are handpicked by TV and SEC teams don't have a say so on TV schedule.
This is one time I actually feel for the gumps a bit. Nobody should have to play their cupcake games in the morning/afternoon time slots. Can you imagine the flak Alleva would catch if we had played McNeese or Southeastern at 2:30?
Their point is valid - the TV viewing audience tuning in to watch Bama vs. New Mexico State probably has SEC network anyway, so why not throw it on an alternate channel? The SEC has the power to negotiate these TV contracts, how much money would we really lose if nobody in the conference were forced to play an FCS opponent at 11:30 or 2:30? I don’t imagine those are the games that are paying the bills.
That being said, I don’t really understand how scheduling works for these non-conference cupcake games. I assume it’s not 100% determines by TV rights like the SEC matchups, since LSU has managed to avoid the day games. Can anyone give us the rundown of how these early-season non-conference matchups are scheduled/picked up by networks?

It really has been an advantage. Tennessee has been dog crap Saban's entire tenure at bama. It's like an extra non-conference game for bama.
Ya' think?
Since 2000, BAMA leads their rivalry with TENN 14-5. BAMA has won the last 12 in a row scoring 454 to 137 over that time frame. That's an average of 38-11.
It's like they've gotten an extra non-conference cupcake game that also counts as an SEC win.
FTR, LSU has played Florida and gone 10-9 since 2000. We play Florida every year so that BAMA can continue their "rivalry" with TENN despite not being in the same division.
Basically, they can get bent.

I’m sure Bama will go completely silent when the subject of permanent opponents comes up. We get Florida, they get day games. frick em
Posted on 9/10/19 at 3:21 pm to Lsuhoohoo
I thought the Gumps always played day games against inferior opponents. Why all of a sudden “it’s too hot”? Screw em.

Talk about some self unaware audacity for bama to complain about scheduling

Maybe not on cbs but it will definitely be a night game on ESPN whether we lose or not this year.
It’s all about ratings and that game draws ratings every year.

The SEC is strong enough and draws enough to draw a line, let the home teams set their start times, and tell TV to either show it or frick off. If ESPN/Disney really wanted fans to sack up and subscribe to ESPN+, putting the shitty Bama vs. Western Carolina games on there at 7pm will get the rednecks to scrounge up five bucks a month. Enough is fricking enough with this archaic system of allowing TV to dictate the sport.

Ehhh, frick Cecil. Tell him to get back to us after his baws have to play at UF 2 consecutive years.

One team has a tradition associated with night games. One does not. One team goes out of its way to schedule really tough OOC opponents. One does not. Complaints about this, especially from Alabama, is actually infuriating. No one else is writing butthurt, passive aggressive, faggy letters about game times involving teams like SOUTHERN MISS except Alabama. frick that school.
