His run from 2018-2021 was no better than what he did at Notre Dame

His body of work at LSU was way better than anywhere else he’d been. He got old and retired. That’s like saying Bobby Bowden didn’t leave FSU better than he came because of his last 5 years there.

I've wanted Kiffin at LSU since he was the OC at Alabama. I've never felt so confident in a hire, and if he fails, I'll own up to being wrong. I won't be though.

Same. I don’t post often but it blew my mind how our fans thumbed their noses at Kiffin over the years. I’ve always said, he was a younger guy, probably had too much responsibility given to him at such a young age and made some mistakes.

I’ve always said when he got around the 50 year old age mark he was going to put something special together somewhere and have a pretty dominant decade run. I’m not worried about him leaving for another CFB program anytime soon. I think the NFL will come calling in 5-6 years. That may not interest him though. Could we really have pulled off the best hire for both sides at the right time? I believe so. Time will tell.

Brad Davis was lousy when he got here and worse when he left, same as Sloan.

Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, huh?

No one said Orgeron was great coming in. That's the point of my initial response.

There’s 3 ways for a head football coach to leave: he retires, he takes another job or gets fired. The most likely place one would leave for is the NFL, a coach going from 1 big program to another is still relatively rare. Since we now consider 9-3 failure he’s way more likely to get fired not just at LSU but any big program just look around

I’m more talking about assistant coaches.

Frank Wilson (x2)
Corey Raymond (x1.5)
Brad Davis

All were coaches the Rant loved and dismissed them at terrible on their way out. Wilson it happened twice. Raymond loved then hated now loved again. Brad Davis was the best O-line coach and now he’s not.

DiNardo had a roller coaster career at LSU and finished on the down slope,
Same for Les

Nah. Maybe if he had left or been forced out in 2013 when Alleva first brought up the issues that eventually came out about him. But he stayed and rode his career here down until the wheels were falling off. We would have had a losing season in 2016 if he and Cameron hadn’t been fired.

9-3 at LSU in 2015 & 2-2 when he got fired in 2016 (team finished 8-4)

2 of those 3 losses were embarrassments to lesser teams. As for 2016, without he and Cameron being fired, Etling would have remained on the bench for Brandon “U Smart” Harris, and the offense would have continued to be hot garbage. We would have had a losing season.

He should have hung it up 2 years before he did and he should have never coached again.

Coaches who can’t walk away when it’s time aren’t leaving better than they came. They are leaving on a down note because they are washed up or the game has passed them by. He’s a perfect example of this.

He’s made it easy on his critics at times. His collapse last year, missing the playoffs due to losses to bad UK and UF teams was hard to excuse. He had another in 2022 that included 5 straight losses. I also still think Golding was a bad hire at the price. He’s never been that good and was massively overpaid.

All that said, he and that program definitely turned a corner this year. They won the close games they had to with a lot less defensive talent than last year and a new QB and RB. His offense paired with Baker’s defense could really be something.

I don't understand the hate for O. He put together a very solid staff, excellent talent and fielded the greatest tfootball eam in NCAA history.

The O saga is a story about how LSU fans have grown tired of giving the Louisiana guy the chance, because they are tired of inconsistency and mediocrity. Saban gave us a taste of what building a lasting powerhouse looked like, then left and did it at Bama. When O came out after 2019 like a coonass with new money, LSU fans were appalled and felt like they were shite on yet again. We don't care where the coach is from, we want a consistently competitive and dangerous program that can jump up and win it all in any given year, and a coach that represents the University on a high level. We are tired of clowns, knuckleheads, and running jokes. Ole Piss is trying the same narrative with Kiffin, but we are hoping he flies above all that.

Ok, the LSU program missed the NCAAT and was devoid of elite talent when Mainieri got here. That wasn’t the case when he left.

Just an observation.

Our last 3 coaches were fired. Obviously, a fired person will look worse going out than coming in.
