ND fans are pissed they lost one of the best coaches in their history to what they view as "some southern school" that doesnt have the prestige or lore ND has.

Brady Quinn said it himself when he said that Notre Dame fans weren't used to their program being a stepping stone.

Notre Dame's slow fall into becoming just another team started when cable television was invented.

I would be a bit more salty as a ND fan. Saban didn't leave LSU to go directly to Alabama. He left college football altogether. Once he realized being the HC of a professional football team (or maybe just that particular team) wasn't for him the LSU job was not available. So he accepted the "best" college job available at the time. It wasn't a F-you to LSU in taking the Alabama job. The LSU job wasn't an option for him.

ND wasn't looking to rid themselves of Kelly. He was paid well. He had the program literally on the cusp of making the CFP for the third time. Yet, despite all that he said (though his actions) I can't win a National Championship here (ND). I CAN at LSU. While not specifically saying it, he told ND "you're not good enough". I'd be pretty angry if I were a ND fan if my HC told me that.

I can’t stand Ohio State, but I am hoping that Ohio State beats those losers by 50 to start off the year.

As he made his decision live on CBS Sports HQ, James proceeded to troll LSU by pulling a Tigers hat out from under the table and putting it on his head momentarily before throwing it aside and putting on the Notre Dame lid. He committed to Freeman after presumably getting Kelly and his staff’s heart racing with his pump fake.

What a joke lol

Jeez y’all. Notre Dame actually has more of a reason to be butt hurt about Brian Kelly, than we do of Saban. We still haven’t got over that shite. You can tell who the stereotypical LSU fans are.

ND fans have known for a while the glory days of basically the 1900's through the early 1990's were over. But, ND is still one of the biggest "brands" in college football and Kelly had them for a decade at least close to the championship program they had long been. But him leaving for LSU essentially locked in the fact that the decades of being arguably THE powerhouse in CFB are truly over. In the 20's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, etc, etc, the thought of a ND head coach leaving for another job was unfathomable. Now, it is wholly logical a coach would do so when the program that coach left ND for has won THREE national championships since the last time ND won one.

Hang your hat on all of the Citrus Bowls and Music City Bowls you want. The reality is LSU is now a better and more powerful program than Notre Dame (and has been for 20 years). Kelly's leaving for LSU shattered any illusion that wasn't the case.

It's righteous anger, but they deserve no pity. If somebody does something to spite LSU, we don't have a million voices in the media crying foul. Notre Dame does. Kelly left Notre Dame to advance his career and he reputation, and he and LSU have been slandered and defamed for near 5 months, so frick them.

Not even close.

Did Kelly go to one of the biggest rivals of Notre Dame?
This plus more.

We know this, but Notre Dame, it's fans, and their friends in the media are still in the denial stage.

"Meanwhile, an unemployed Ed Orgeron — whom Kelly replaced at LSU — visited South Bend and took indirect shots at his successor while praising Freeman." not at all true. He literally was just visiting with his kids

The video actually wasn't bad and the butt hurt article made it sound much worse.

The article is "butt hurt" issue. I don't see anything but some light fun from the kid and it's what makes college football great.

I’m still not surprised by any of this. The ND world sees this as a Kiffin level Tennessee abandonment. In reality, it’s nothing like that. Regardless, it’s a free market. People can go where they want.

That's a healthy perspective to have.

Anyone who thinks Freeman will do what Kelly did there is a fool.
