While Beloso did not register a hit in Eugene, he did hit into a fielders choice which scored Dugas to tie the game on Monday night. Then he was on 1st base during the inexplicable Balk by Somers to give us the lead. Once Beloso moved to 2nd on the Balk, Safford pinch ran and ultimately scored the 9th and final run on Thompson’s single. Beloso’s run turned out to be the game winners, as Oregon scored 1 in the 9th. We definitely need our DH position to improve a lot, and to get on base in Knoxville, but Beloso was a key contributor to our regional clinching game last night.

None of this excuses 0/6. He's dead weight that needs to be jettisoned.

Getting off that plastic field in Eugene will help with errors and pick offs.

Damn Milazzo. One for 17!!

Look at Morgan. 6 of 22, picked off 3 times, and 2 errors.

The guy has had a great year, but that was a forgettable regional.

I didn't realize they had a synthetic field. Just wonder if the ball takes a faster bounce on that stuff? Will be interesting to see if the fielding errors drop in Knoxville.

We've sucked all year. Sub-par at 2nd, SS, and 3rd (barely). Catcher is a strength and 1st is a slight strength - good, but not as good as the talking points imply.

I hadn't watched yall through the season (hard to be interested when the Ags sucked), but I thought Tre Morgan played really well. Also thought CF and RF had excellent range.

Tennessee has the same turf field.

Totally disagree. This kid has been outstanding handling all the errant throws from SS and 3rd all season.

You know the stolen base stats against LSU? Wonder what percentage of would be base stealers Milazzo threw out.

I’m not positive but I think it was 50% (2/4) last weekend.

Morgan picked off 1st 3 times

To be fair when the announcer said that it was a good move on one of the pickoffs Ben McDonald said that it was a good balk move

I’m guessing it’s better for inclement weather

Milazzo's defense and leadership and calming effect on the young pitchers were the equivalence of getting 2 RBI's each game.

Morgan could be the key for this series if he can he can hit say 6/14 with a couple of big run scoring doubles at ke points. He is a little bit over due. When he does hit, please tether him to the bag.

Yes, synthetic is faster than grass and even worse, a ball often has some spin that can make it do crazy things, like putting "English" on a billiard ball. The ball hit to third in the last inning of the final would probably have been an out on grass but the spin off the bat of a lefty hitter caused it to jump to Doughty's right. All baseball fields should be very good natural grass, but upkeep and groundskeeping cost and the advent of domed stadiums ...

This needs to stop.

Like I said yesterday, I don’t even think he hit a foul ball the whole regional.

Can any of our pitchers actually hit? Possibly DH for Milazzo.

I understand turf fields in northern climates where much of the season takes place in early spring (which is really just late winter). It is probably not until May before they can really start growing grass well.

In the south though, turf fields are about saving on costs and effort of maintenance.
