Pressured on 8 of 22 dropbacks. According to this board I thought he was a pressured on every play and that's why he sucked

Etling didnt suck to me, the receivers played much worse and got some really bad luck on his 2 longest plays

He made it look like he was pressured an extra 10 times by leaving the pocket before it actually collapsed

First of all he probably graded out better than any other position on the team other than punter and RB.

He was not the problem. You could have put Drew Bree's back there and it wouldn't have made a difference. Danny had 5 perfectly thrown balls that were dropped uncontested.

And also 8 pressures on 22 drop backs is a shite ton

Self inflicted wounds made State look like world beaters. Our lines were overmatched but we held up better there than most on here are saying. IMO

Not to makes excuses ....
but a couple of observations.
a) Football is a game of momentum, the 1st penalty that negated a TD changed the momentum.
b) The O lines was not able to protect...they were exposed.
c) The D line was depleted.

One ejection, the 1st penalty and I think the 6th penalty, were totally incorrect.

He had 2 good throws dropped. The excuses for his play and lack of talent are pathetic
He's no better than Jefferson and Lee

They protected well on 65% of passes which is a lot better than most O lines I watched Saturday

Agreed it was a shitty call. But as a head coach, you can't let bad calls ruin your team's mindset. LSU defense stopped MSU on the next drive and we got the ball back with the game still 0-0. We had a chance there to once again grab momentum and we didn't.

I don't know why this board continues to make excuses for Etling, no he's not our biggest problem but when you have as many holes as we do, having someone as limited as Etling in there just further magnifies those.

Unfortunately there's no better option currently. Brennan isn't ready quite yet, especially with this OL.

What game were you watching? Our punter was awful Saturday

From a technical standpoint, etlings mechanics are awful... he rarely sets his feet and looks really uncomfortable back there in the pocket. I noticed that last year and have seen zero improvement from him in that regard. I honestly don't think he's going to be the answer going forward, and this isn't a typical 'OMG LETS JUST PUT THE BACKUP IN' rantard melt. I truly believe Brennan gives us a better opportunity to win games

Quarterback is always you guys excuse.

Can we talk about Chark dropping a potential touchdown pass that hit him directly in the hands or his 4 holding calls??

Do the math.

22 dropbacks minus
8 pressures minus
? Dropped passes =

Real opportunities for Etling

Conclusion - 8 hurries is significant with on only 22 dropbacks

It was more than 8 I promise you that. Pressure doesn't mean once you hit your back foot it means you're pressured before you can make your reads.

Agreed. Etling is mediocre at best

ETA: Tough for anyone to make anything happen with how our OL blocked, but having a limited QB makes things damn near impossible.

The loss had nothing to do with Etling.
However, I get it, If you don't know anything about football and you are looking for someone to blame...

The ignorant fan always blames the coach and QB and that's exactly what 95% of our fans are doing. Even with the shite show Saturday Etling still has yet to turn it over.

Totally correct ... but I am not sure that it affected our coaches as much as it created confidence and momentum for MSU .. at their home place.

He bailed out of the pocket much too soon on several plays which put him under pressure imo. Needs to trust the pocket a bit longer.
