re: Etling or Brennan the rest of the way?

Will it ever end!!!!!!!!?
Jefferson vs. Lee
Jennings vs. Harris
Harris vs. Etling
Etling vs. Brennan.
Let's focus on getting some big time wide receivers who want the football every single play and find us some defensive linemen who want to cause havoc every damn play.
We no longer have Dwayne Bowe, Early Doucet, Craig Davis, Michael Clayton, Josh Reed, ODB, Jarvis Landry, Kyle Williams, Tyson Jackson, Marcus Spears, Glenn Dorsey.
We've recruited kids that aren't ready and quite frankly won't be ready for the next level and it's showing. Stop blaming every damn play on the QB.

Brennan... Out of the SEC West and SEC race and are playing for pride and slightly better bowl game.
Brennan is the future, get him ready
Brennan is the future, get him ready

What part of Etling not being able to pass the ball to wr's down the field will help us "get big time wide receivers who want the football every single play"?

Whoah! The_watcher did some serious research. I'm kind of curious to see the reply.

If you bench DE and play MB the rest of the way... you are admitting you don't care about this team nor the seniors on it. 9-3 is very much in reach... 10-3 with a bowl win. I know many people on tRant think it's Playoff or bust... but the players have a lot more to play for.
This is the thing posters here don’t realize...I’ve stopped posting what you said because they don’t care.

I don't know about serious. I scrolled through 12 pages of 1 thread before getting tired. Didn't even get halfway through that one thread. I'm sure they are hundreds of more Etling is incredible posts that he "never said" in his post history

The first goal of this team should be to win the SEC West. The second is to win the SEC championship in Atlanta. The third should be to make the playoff. None of that is possible. We are already bowl eligible.
Arkansas just beat Coastal Carolina by 1 point at home. Tennessee is an 11 point underdog this week to MISSOURI. A&M has a true freshman qb and has lost their last two games, at home, by double digits. They are going to fire their coach as soon as the LSU game ends. Our passing game can't get any worse at this point. Why wouldn't the players play just as hard for the qb of the future?

You’re the kind of guy who likes to hear himself talk aren’t you?
My issue is with posters who believe Etling gives us the best chance to win, but want to start Brennan anyway. This isn’t the NFL...you’re telling the team (especially seniors) that this season really doesn’t matter and all that matters is getting Brennan ready for next season.
Now, if you believe Brennan gives us the best chance to win...well I don’t necessarily agree but that’s your opinion.

How do I like to hear myself talk on an anonymous message board?

The next 3 games, and specifically the next 2, are against bad football teams. All 3 will have new head coaches next season. LSU should would all 3 regardless of who is playing qb.

I think the difference between the two is negligible which is pathetic at this point as one is a 5th year senior and one is a true freshman. We should get Brennan in game experience as a starter in the SEC. It's time to move on from Etling. We know what he is at this point.

I want Brennan to get meaningful snaps & I want to win out
Posted on 11/7/17 at 4:32 pm to Spankem
No facts but just my thoughts:
I believe Narcisse was not completely recovered this year and the reason for him getting a red shirt. By mid-season (Georgia or before) Lowell Narcisse will be the LSU QB. Yes- Brennean needs all the experience he can get because he will start the first few games and will always be just one injury from #!. He is not the starter now because LSU is still going for a 10 win season (Bowl victory) but he needs as many meaningful snaps (before the game is decided) as possible even if it cost a game.
Along this same line of thought should more running backs play meaningful snaps rather than just Guice and Williams? Both will be gone next year. Question: Is the starting RB next year on the current roster? Their lack of play makes me wonder.

I would hypothesize that quarterbacks have to read defenses, checkdowns and develop timing with receivers. Running backs need to learn the plays, but the learning curve is less than a quarterback an thus not as vital. I do like your comment about the next starting running back may still be playing high school right now. That may very well be the case. I would tend to think that CEH would get the nod over Brousette but that is just speculation and conjecture.

Good point. You can tell - I'm not a coach, just a fan. Thanks.

We see posts that suggest that Narcisse isn't grasping the plays and is an inaccurate passer (aka another BH). What is making a few posters crown him king the way you are?
Posted on 11/7/17 at 5:11 pm to Spankem
I’d personally go with Brennan just to see how he does since the remaining opponents should be beatable either way and it’ll help you out for next year. But then again I am not a head coach, much less one that commands a $12m guarantee.
At least give him the first half and if it’s rocky go back to Etling in the 2nd half.
The only reason I might would consider not starting Brennan is if I’m worried Narcisse would transfer in the off season due to perceived favoritism. Having him as an option next year may be valuable.

As for me nothing more than I believe Narcisse to be a little more mobile than Brennan and might fit the offense a little better plus the fact that Brennan has not been able to overtake a less than a star QB when given the opportunity to do so. Yes - I know Brennan is young and personally I hope he turns out to be great - just not sure at this point. I know it is not easy to QB at LSU or any major university for that matter. I wish them both well but only one can start.

Etling may not be the superstar that Brennan might one day be, but he must start, followed by Brennan if DE struggles, but sacrificing a game is stupid.
Brennan will get what due him.... in time.
He should have opportunities during some of the next three games.

Is it really that risky to start Brennan against Arky? Any QB on any D1 roster could win with LSU’s ground attack and defense.
Arky is terrible at stopping the run.

Doesn't matter, we don't get to choose. Brennan isn't ready.
