Some of the rant thinks DE has hit his ceiling, sucks, and in no way contributes towards LSU winning games.
Some of the rant sees MB as a talented young quarterback that will lead LSU to many future victories, but is still catching up to the speed of the game.
LSU should be picked to win the last few games in November so do you think we should.
A) Let Etling finish out the season
B) Let Brennan finish out the season
C) Etling start but Brennan finish the games that are in hand
D) Let them both play regardless of how close the game is (Like the Troy game)

I'll admit. I was surprised to see Brennan go in during the bama game. I hoped that he would have been able to seize the starting job actually. It was painfully obvious that he wasn't ready for bama just yet. I think that he will be able to compete against the remaining defenses though and the playing time will help us for next year. I do want the quarterback who gives us the best chance to win the remaining games this year though. I'm torn, but I'm sure the rant will be able to help me out.

Brennan needs meaningful time to get ready to be the guy next year. How you manage that with letting Etling finish out his career in his last 4 games is why the coach makes the big bucks.

An easy compromise to me is starting Etling, especially in the last home game, but letting Brennan play most of the snaps.

I agree. Just wondering if it should be scheduled into each game or only if we go up on a team.

Etling gives LSU the best shot at going 9-3 this season.

Alternate Etling and Brennan, just like in the old days, the first two series w/ Etling then the third w/ Brennan and alternate using the same pattern throughout. That has been an LSU tradition since the 50s: Raab/ Matherne in 1958/59; Lynn Amadee/ Jimmy Fields in the 60s, same w/ Pat Screen/ Nelson Stokely, on up to Tommy Hodson/ Mickey Guidry in 1986-88. That's the only way to resolve the QB dilemma.

If you want to win you play the better of the two Danny Etling.
If you don't care you play Brennan.

If putting him in now and possibly losing the remaining games is the difference berween Brennan being 100% ready for game 1 next year and him not being ready, I say put him in.

LSU has no star back to rely on next year. Whoever is at QB will have to be ready to roll for Miami. There really isn't anything left to play for this year other than setting up for next year.

9-3 and a good bowl... the QB that helps that the most now is the right choice. I’m assuming that’s Etling. Let’s get Brennan some PT though.

I would disagree here. We need to win out and look good doing it for recruiting purposes and bowl seating. I do agree that Brennan will need to be as good as he can possibly be when he starts next season. Meaningful snaps will go a long way to get him there.

If you bench DE and play MB the rest of the way... you are admitting you don't care about this team nor the seniors on it. 9-3 is very much in reach... 10-3 with a bowl win. I know many people on tRant think it's Playoff or bust... but the players have a lot more to play for.

DE is starting because the coaches feel he is the best QB on the roster at this time. You keep playing him until the coaches feel that is no longer the case. If LSU gets a big lead on someone... feel free to give MB some playing time.

It's very clear that MB is not ready to be a starter at this moment. If DE gets hurt or you have no other option... sure start MB.

LSU's gonna have to stay with Etling. That's unless Danny completely craters. Don't see that happening. Danny more than holds his own against a Tier II SEC opponent, but against Tier I like Bama or Georgia........

Etling should finish the season as the starter, but Brennan should get some meaningful reps.

DE should start as he is a senior and is the starting QB. Bring MB in for meaningful reps either alternating or when we have a lead. MB needs experience for next year and to show recruits he can really pass the ball and we're serious about it. But, we also need to make sure we get the wins for recruiting too. Need to work both in the game the rest of the way out.

Start Etling and alternate Brennan every few series. Etling is still needed to win so make sure he stays warmed up and ready to go back in. Brennan needs meaningful reps (not just mop up duty) to prep for the future.

As another poster said, LSU has done this before. In the 80s Hodson was a great QB; but the team did well whenever Mickey Guidry got in there for a series or two.
