Bama will be even better. The talent they have waiting is better than any that had preceding. It's all part of the Saban process. (Sarcasm) That, coupled with their weak arse schedule. UGA will start 0-2. Open at Clemson and will drop their second at home against USCe.

i agree. all homerism aside, losing the wealth of experienced talent we did is unprecedented in my lifetime. talent plus experience plus coaching wins championship. we lost some damn talented guys over the last 2 years, esp after this year and it'll take a little time to get back to the point we were in 2011. our timing is wierd because we have a sr qb this year but imo, mett isn't good enough to take us to the promised land anyway. i think 2014 and 2015 will be the chance to shine and 2014 only if one of our new qb's is the real deal.

That's about where we started at the beginning of the 2011 season. I can't wait until August 31...

Preseason rankings are the only complaint I have about the BCS system.

Actually, there are no preason BCS rankings. The BCS does not rank teams until 6 weeks into the season. All of this preseason crap you see
comes from any and all wanksticks who are given a forum to spew.

A&M should be 1 or 2. they have 8 home games, play Bama at home and draw Vandy and Mizzou from east

they will be favored in all 12 games

I do not foresee A&M being favored over Bama and no-way they are favored over LSU in Baton Rouge unless LSU blows arse to begin the season.

I agree as much of a diehard fan as I am, as a way too early poll I don't have a problem with it. If we take care of business on the field than the rankings will take care of themselves.

What I don't think people are really understanding though is even with the talent at LSU, losing basically 6 starters on the defensive line "I realize that 6 players don't start on the line, but hopefully you get what I am trying to say" will hurt no matter how you slice it. The SEC is built in the trenches and that is going to hurt, Ferguson. Johnson and Rasco need to step up big-time or it will be a long season for LSU.

Do they update their rankings based on what they see in the spring?

IDK, but everyone updates based on what they see in the fall.

I've seen this movie before. Should I spoil the ending for you?

Oh, heck, here goes...A&M is going to disappoint next season. JFF will not enjoy next year.

Captain Ron, let's try a little exercise. Your life depends on you answering correctly. Who wins the national championship next year? Get it, now?

Not surprising....we are going to have to prove ourselves on the field this year and can't rely on preseason ranking.

Like it even matters right now. E*** had USC #1 last year, how did that work out?

These rankings should be called, "how teams finished last season" because NO ONE has a clue as to how teams will perform this year.

We don't have all the injuries, suspensions, dismissals, arrests, etc from college football that will shake things up. Once the season starts and they have the first polls out it still won't matter.

What matters is we take care of business each and every game. We do that, we'll be #1 and win the NCG.

And gone are the days when an LSU #13 preseason ranking had a bearing on MNC opportunities. If we win out, we go to the big dance. If not, preseason ranking probably wouldn't matter much anyway. In terms of those rankings though, I'd bet big bucks that the 2013 LSU squad is >10pts better than ND or Michigan.
