Eh we have a solid starting 5 when quarterman plays like he can. The talent just has such a huge drop off when it comes to our bench. We really don't have a bench at all.

Exactly the team goes on Quarterman the problem is Ben dominates the ball so much and TQ is a ball dominant player. We are in a lot of trouble when we ask TQ to be a spot up shooter consistently. When he is playing well that also steps up his defensive effort as well.

Teams like Iowa, Oregon, Purdue, Villanova, Virginia, even Oklahoma have only "one pro" on thier rosters, at best. Yet they seem do be doing just fine. LSU's best five are as good as anyone in the SEC (though maybe not as deep as UK or Vandy)
I'm sorry, but this team's struggles have almost EVERYTHING to do with coaching. Under Jones LSU is a rudderless ship of 5 individuals trying to make their own plays. They are essentially playing 5 games of one-on-one, while everyone else is playing one game of 5 on 5.
The fact that this team has 10 SEC wins despite being one of the most technically unsound groups in the league speaks to just how talented they truly are.

As of now we only have one pro on our roster as well and that's Ben Simmons. The rest if they left end of season wouldn't get drafted. Blakeney right now is a 6'3 shooting guard and needs to get stronger, improve his ball handling and show that he can be a combo guard before he even considers the draft. TQ draft stock has dropped and I doubt he will make an NBA roster if he leaves early. Their is a lot of talent in college basketball.

There are teams with a lot less talent than LSU that will be playing in the tournament.

Blah blab blah excuses excuses...the fact of the matter is a lot of these other guys besides Ben and tone are 4 star recruits that have been in johnnys system almost 2 or 3 years...
So that goes to show that Johnny either sucks at scouting/recruiting or he sucks at developing players/coaching

Just B/c quarterman has been stinking it up, doesn't mean he isn't talented. He was the best player on the court against the two best teams we played this year.
TQ has NBA potential.
AB has NBA potential.
Victor has NBA potential.
As said before, Hornsby is one of the best shooters in the conference.
And we have the #1 pick in the draft.
To say we aren't talented is just stupid. Talented doesn't mean he plays good help side defense. It doesn't mean he gives it all he has every game. Talented means he's 6'6", can handle the ball, and can finish at the rim. Talented is a 6'4" guy that has a 40" vertical and has been shooting lights out from 3. Talented is a 6'8" PF that is money from the elbow and rebounds well due to a long wingspan and aggressive nature.

Not as un-talented as Dakich says (he's a douche by the way, his call on Saturday was brutal to sit through) but certainly not upper echelon.
It's more an issue of quantity and not quality, IMO. Just not much depth, aforementioned PG woes, not a lot of reliable shooting sans Horsnby, and we are forced to mix and match just to cobble together a frontcourt rotation when Victor needs a blow or has foul trouble.

I heard that and he said we didn't have top 15 talent which I agree with. But you don't need top 15 talent to make the NCAA tournament. You need Top 45 talent. We definitely have that IMHO, even without Hornby.
He was dead on with other stuff he said I thought though, about our kids looking like they didn't like each other, no chemistry and an utter lack of a clue on how to feed the post.

Bunch of retread coaches that couldn't cut it that think they could do a better job at LSU

Our starting 5 is near the top of the sec. Bench is bad obviously, but as others have said that's on jones. He has been here long enough to build bench depth. And he was spot on about the chemistry and coaching. Just watch tonight and see how many times our guys huddle together during the game when things go bad. I won't even start on the timeouts.
