Draft Express new scouting evaluation on Simmons

When you watch his lack of effort and limited skillset on this scouting report it's easy to see why we were a better team with Mickey and Martin. See link below.

I didn't bring up Epps and Robinson because I think they will be assets and contribute next year. They are program players and I think we will start to get some return on our investment next year.

I see where you're coming from with the post. I agree only time will tell how good this class is. I am banking on that it is a good class for the pure fact that he signed everyone so early.

Ok man Johnny did absolutely nothing to get Ben Simmons. Patrick hired himself. Ben and his dad trusted Patrick enough to let their 100 million dollar son play for any head coach without talking to him and feeling comfortable that he was in good hands. You win man.

Yea we're LSU and have work to do it would be nice if we could get Simmons Magee Blakeny Newman Sampson and Victor all in the same recruiting class. I'll take 4 out of 6.

Johnny brought Simmons here. He sold him on LSU and used LSU notable alumni to reel him in. He also hired Patrick. No Johnny no Ben Simmons. Your point is?

Umm excuse me but rankings do not always incidicate the impact a player will have. Keith Hornsby was unranked and should have been at least a three star and Tyrus, Garrett and Marcus Thornton were both three stars. We offered these guys pretty early in the game so obviously Johnny and the staff saw something undeniable about their skill sets.

Yea in hindsight we should have looked at those players but you recruit and extend offers to the best talent. We were close on both Magee and Newman.

Yea the closing out on shooters was unexplainable and definitely reflects effort. The defending the penetration and shot blocking is personnel to me. Our team was missing an athletic and strong defender. He may not be the best scorer but he is strong and put up resistance when an opposing guard takes it to the rim. TQ and AB are scrawny. The guard from Alabama manhandled TQ. I think you also want your best player to be your hardest work and Ben coasts on defense and I think that infected the team. Also Craig Victor who only averages 5rp and is not a leaper by any means was asked to play center . Center!

The answer is Vandy will struggle if they go pro. They will not finish in the top 4 in the SEC next year guaranteesd It's great that Johnny was able to piece a competitive roster together after your whole front court leaves early for the NBA. One of those front court players that was brought in misses a significant piece of your non conference schedule. If he would have been eligible from jump we would be in the tournament right now. They have one of the best point guards coming in next year in recent LSU memory in Skylar Mays. They recruited Dominic Magee and were close to getting Malik Newman. You win some battles you lose some battles. They will have depth next year with Mays and a healthy experienced Patterson backing him up.

I respectfully disagree with you that any of those players would log minutes but my point was that you need depth. That's a big reason behind the lack of effort because our starters have to play so many minutes, watch out for foul trouble and conserve energy. LSU beat Kentucky this year and in regards to Oklahoma, they had a big time player who made big time shots. Ben Simmons should have stepped up to the occasion and accepted the challenge.

It is that he is a great recruiter that is building a program that lost two players who were early entrants to the NBA. Only other school that can say that is Kentucky and It takes time to build the type of depth that can handle that type of turnover. I am confident that he is getting there. Vanderbilt has two players projected to go in the first round next year. If they leave do you think Vandy will be back in the tournament next year?

Ok because calling a specific segment of the LSU basketball fan base bandwagoners (which they are) is the same as calling someone a moron. A special type of guy you are!

^ Says the man who resorts to name calling because another man has a different opinion on a sports forum. Sounds like a person with the mental maturity of a 10 year old. You sir are the actual moron. Or should i say that you are special? I think special sounds better.

No just saying that Scotlandville has a lot of talent so why not offer him when you needed numbers at the time. He comes from an LSU basketball bloodline and is get a good representative locally for the university. Something that was sorely missed during the Trent regime.
