Is it just me, but does Danny Ettling remind you of Matt Mauck from the 2003 season?. Both from Indiana. Similar athletes.

I do not think the crowd is gonna ruffle him at all
I think people forget that, even though they sucked, Purdue plays in some pretty serious stadiums. No way Jordan Hare is louder than Penn State or Michigan St or Nebraska.
Just cause the team sucked doesn't mean he isn't prepared as a starter to go into those types of environments. There's no way he doesn't have more confidence knowing the play makers he has coupled with his experience in big, loud venues.

Dude went on the road with a shot Purdue team. He's seen hostile crowds before.

Purdue qb battle brewing ?

So, that considered, I think @Auburn this year won't be any worse than what Etling saw at some of those bigger Big Ten venues.
I think Etling was being nice and diplomatic, but I think the interviewer was off when he said, "obviously this is a huge step up in competition." Etling handled it well.

I think using this phrase anymore should be a bannable offense
What if he isn't the "etisiah" or as great as people are making him out to be. He reminds me on Hodson some, but I can't say I've seen enough to classify him as the next great thing. Keeping an even keel about things is EXACTLY what any coach or player will tell you is a key factor of success. How about let him be him and just manage the game by using the weapons he has available. He may end up being one of the best we've ever had. However using 7 quarters of football isn't enough to gauge that. If you want to use his Purdue time, then he is t what people are trying to say he is.
See how that works?
What exactly is ban able about asking people to not get too pumped and set too high of expectations on this kid?
That's how all the negative comments roll in when that happens.

Etling played in post Sex Scandal Happy Valley. It was never full and never that loud.
MSU's stadium is about as quiet as 70k can get, unless its vs. Michigan or Ohio St.
I haven't seen anything out of Etling that he didn't do at Purdue...he just now has an actual OL to block for him and an exceptional RB to hand off to.
The thing you have to worry about is that once he starts getting hit, he gets VERY happy feet and the automatic clock in his head that gives him 5 seconds starts giving him 2, no matter what the actual pass rush looks like.
He had all the physical tools, but when he actually started getting good protection in his 2nd year at Purdue he couldn't do anything with it. To shellschocked and had bad habits from his FR year.
The kid who is playing for us now and the kid who is now at Florida both have looked better than him since he left. Glad it's working out for both parties. Your offense is better with him and ours is better this year now that our joke of an OC is gone and we actually have an OL to protect a QB.

I don't think any rational person thinks Etling is the second coming of John Elway, but to imply we shouldn't get excited by the vastly improved play at QB is silly. Furthermore, even if you wanted to convey that sentiment you should not say, "Pump the brakes". It's a phrase that is overused by people who try to act like they know something everybody else doesn't know (and they are usually wrong).

The problem is that Purdue's offensive line only gave him about 2.5 seconds before he was getting blown up. So the 5 second clock had to get reduced to 2 or he was going to get sacked on every pass attempt.

What!!! You mean that your average ranter doesn't have this double secret information that nobody else has?
Say it ain't so.

Yeah, nobody pumps brakes any more with ABS.
How about "throw out the anchor"?

Etling in 2013 at Purdue: 11 total TDs (1 rushing) and 7 picks. 55.8% completion.
Etling in 2014 at Purdue: 9 total TDs (3 rushing) and 5 picks. 54.9% completion.
A dropoff, but not as drastic as you imply. Then again, you watched the games. I didn't.
He had an obvious bad game or two from what I can see, especially against Central Michigan.
Maybe it was a sophomore slump, or maybe he just sucks as you imply. I guess we'll see. I tend to think he's better now after sitting a year. And, as stated, he has a better team around him.

Cool! Thanks for the info, bruh. He was hit this past weekend, hit pretty good a few times if I remember correctly, and I didn't see any happy feet after. But again thanks for your input. Bye.
