I commend him for pulling himself instead of potentially hurting the team going forward by not being 100% too.

Almost seemed like he was on a pitch count. Why would he look to the dugout like that?

I would move Hess to starter and out of closer role for future games. Let Newman close. Without Walker, Hess is our best option for a third starter particularly with Gilbert throwing tonight.

I think Walker told CPM that his arm was hurting after the previous inning. CPM ask him if he can just pitch until Gilbert gets warm. Thus the minimal conversion with the bench when he was ready to step out of the game and Gilbert being ready.
